Hint, yes it is the creative industry, but guess what, the creative industry makes awesome stuff.

No, you aren't listening or reading what I'm trying to put forward to you. Forget comparing Apple to PC's. Forget market share and percentages. Apple is a big name all around the world and people buy their products. I dont know why that's so bloody hard to understand.

Its with arguments like these that Apple can't win either way. These sweeping generalizations are ridiculous for any computer manufacturer.
It also raises the question, all the haters here who wont ever buy an Apple product, have you ever owned one before?

I'de like to say again for those that dont know, I'm computer illiterate. I wont argue that an Apple IS better than a PC. I work in the media and it's common knowledge that video editing is better with the Apple and it's related software than a PC. I also believe this having used a PC and laptops to edit for the world ASP a few years ago. The biggest difference, my iMac crashes far less than the PC and laptops that I have used, by far. THAT matters to me and how I use it. I use to have an i-River for mp3. I then listened to an iPod and found it was shitloads better than the i-River. That's my experience. That doesn't mean I think Apple is King, it just means that from what I have tried and failed with, Apple works well.

Household name recognition means somewhere between jack and shit. Just ask the people who make the Segway. I don't relate name recognition with popularity. I relate sales to popularity, and Apple sales pale in comparison to their competitors on most fronts. The exceptions to this are the iPod and iPad, and I would venture outside of a year or so the iPad will be second fiddle as well since Android has become the mobile OS of choice. It's not hard to bloody understand - you simply refuse to listen to facts and want us to believe you with conjecture and bullshit rather than backup your point with any facts (which you can't, because they don't exist).

And there is something we can agree on: Personal experience plays a large part in your electronics decisions. I've been working on computers since the days of DOS and built my first box shortly after the ATX form factor was introduced to the world. I've used every major Windows OS since 3.1 (not just played with - thoroughly abused them) and have built more computers than I can remember, up to having 8 machines running 24/7 and 100% load in my house for the span of about 2 years. I've had 1 virus that caused a problem back on Win95. I never saw the "Million Errors" thing with WinME. I can't remember the last time I had a BSOD, freeze, crash, or anything other than 100% stability. The last time I touched a mac was at a friends work. I needed to look something up on 3Si while working on my car. Thing froze on me and refused to do anything. I had to physically unplug the damn thing to reboot it, and even then it was slow as balls and just ran like shit. Grabbed their Win machine, got the info I needed, and moved on.

I'm also a hardcore gamer (steamcalculator.com values my Steam account at just under $1K), and Macs have never been better for gaming than a PC, and I don't see that changing in the near future. The best Vid cards you can put in a mac are a generation old and not even the high end cards from that generation. Games made to run on both systems run better on the PC with the same hardware. There is no reason I would want to waste my money on an Apple product in this instance.

So in your personal experience, you have found that Apple products are better suited to you. In my experience, Apple products are inferior. I doubt that is going to change for either of us.

    Agree to disagree?

Most definetly. Like I said, I wasn't saying my point was fact or that Apple was better. Just that you guys (members on 3si, BAWC and here) always rubbish Apple as over priced junk and I really dont think that's the case.

As for gaming, I would never go the Apple way. I dont think anyone as ever said that Apple is better for that. lol

    Jeremy,
My philosophy on this whole thing is this: clean and maintain your computer like you would your car, learn to fly your F-35 like you would your F-22. Judging by what you wrote, I have likely been using Apple computers for about as long as you have been using Windows-based computers. I've seen a LOT of poorly maintained PCs, but to be fair, I have seen a lot of poorly maintained Apple machines as well.

I, too, have sat down at a friend's Mac PC to do something extremely menial, only to be bombarded with errors and ultimately the BSOD. The difference between you and me, however, is that I didn't chalk my experience up to 'Windows sucks' - but rather that my friend likely had been to one too many porn sites. Get my drift?

I am waiting, anxiously, for the day that a PC fan "enlightens" me on what I'm missing out on. When he or she teaches me something that I, with all my Mac OS experience, can't do on my end and that ISN'T something so niche that I'd never care to do it. I can almost guarantee you that if you guys spent as much time using and learning a Mac as you have a PC, you'd be singing a different tune.

Next time you're in Northern Nevada, I'll let you take my Mac for a drive. I promise you it won't lock up or cause you any headache.

PC's are half the price of a mac here. Reason enough when all I need to do is basic word documents and surf the net, PC does me MIGHTY fine.

I always hated iPods and iPhones and the nobs that use them. But a couple of years ago my gf gave me an iPod touch for Christmas. Well after a week or so I was loving it. Stopped using my home pc except for games and vid editing. Now I have an iPhone 4 and it's awesome on a 1GB plan and it's great for lonely nights in motels. For eBay and stuff I mean.

Can't comment on the Macintosh computers besides one my cousin had about 20 years ago that could record sounds :s

This is a little hard to say, but yesterday I came home to Lauren asking if I'de been to any porn sites lately. In particular, GAY PORN sites. I told her it had been atleast a year and a half since those dirty old days so no, nothing recently. We got some virus and started freaking out. (Oooo, Apples dont get virus's) Anyways, after some help from Stealthify who made sure we stayed away from the fake anti-virus software they tried to get us to buy, we called Mac help and are now good. Apparently our google search setting was on moderate but has now been upgraded to Strict. Hopefully we are now good to keep going.

    Mac rules.
