You're putting words in my mouth, Thadd. That's precisely what I didn't say at all.

    But whatever.

prove me wrong. seriously. this isn't isolated to computers; it's a universal truism. if you don't do the research, you usually end up paying more for the same thing; if you're not totally ripped off altogether.

BMW's are sold along the same idea. that's why they include all the maintaince for the first 4 years. it's an "idiot-proof" sell. the only difference is....BMW actually has some redeeming qualities which can partially justify the increased expense. apple does not have that virtue.

One reeks of arrogance, the other is correct.

not different. same statement, worded differently.

if you don't shop orbitz/hotwire/travelocity & end up paying full price; i don't feel pity for you either. i feel like a schmuck when i've overpaid for something--and i feel superior when i hear about some other poor sap that has paid too much for something i purchased significantly cheaper.

hence, apple consumers are both a source of joy in my life....as well as a never-ending source of antagonism (though the latter has nothing to do with their products..)
