    Harbaugh called it illegal.

the setup was ran 3 times. the officials were reported to by the ineligible player. the referees reported it to the defense. hell, it was announced over the PA system. Baltimore defense had plenty of time to adjust or call a time out.
play breakdown: The Patriots' trick play that got John Harbaugh mad - SBNation.com

A head coach in the NFL should damn well better know the rule book and should be above bitching about it instead of admitting his own ineptitudes. Both the Harbaugh brothers must be from Napa - so much whine from those two. Complaining about it the way he did makes him look bad. Sour grapes.

Also, clearly he doesn't watch college football, either. So, yes. He should, in fact, study the rule book and figure it out. And as for how much time there was for the defense to adjust....10, 7 & 7.

    tl; dr deal with it

if you think this is the same as a fake handoff of read option then I don't know what to tell you. it's legal no doubt and a really good trick. but Harbaugh has a gripe. changing the eligibility of a player is basically a substitution without actually doing it.

I see your point Bobby, but as I said, NASCAR crewchief.

Belichick is a pretty creative dude.
Ranked No. #1 in initial quality

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

You have no cause for pride, Jeffro - as a practical matter, that is literally all there is to NASCAR; you know as much as the most avid fan.

Apart from the expected and time-honored cheating, that is.

    I think you're right.

    I plead elderly enfeeblement.

    Apologies to you both.

As an aside, Mike Boerschinger, sometime NASCAR crewchief, used to be the machine shop gofer at a parts-store I worked for.

    He was one goofy SOB...
