While I'm sure it's kinda nerdy I'm going to go for it anyway. In my opinion Torchlight 2 is the most anticipated game of my life(weird to say I know). I'm only 24 but grew up in the pinnacle of gaming development (so far). I lived for Diablo 2 as a kid (aided by the fact everyone I knew played it, parents, friends, friends siblings). To this day I still believe Diablo 2 and it's expansion (LOD) during it's first say...4 years were the greatest game productions in the history of gaming (I know, I know). And it's a funny thing because it never had the best graphics, even for it's time. It didn't have large sales figures, it wasn't the biggest or the baddest game around. It just drew on something... something that many of my hardcore gaming buddies have always been jealous of, something they miss from quality gaming entertainment. That inherent draw the game has; that, even years later pulled me back multiple times and still time after time gave me that same rush. Now, I know by this time most people are thinking "this dude is weird as $%^&" haha and fair. The way I can relate it to 3S terms is for those of us that have stored our car for long periods of time or had it broken or down for a while. It's that feeling you get one day when you walk out to the garage, lift the door, glance over the car and get a rushing feeling that ends with.. "Damn I've missed this car."

Now, I having followed all the company buyouts and break-ups that Blizzard North went through and I followed those guys as the built other games and companies. I praised them when they told the world that Blizzard and other companies requiring monthly's was bullshit and was based ONLY on profit maximization. I looked forward to Diablo 3 but knew their was no way a lack luster game thrown together by a bunch of overseas programers would never live up to it's history.

My hope now is that Torchlight 2 will be that game.

Anyone else looking forward to it/will be buying it? Thoughts?

I haven't looked into Torchlight 2 a whole lot, but I really liked your opening paragraph. Diablo 2 was a huge part of my early life, and I look forward to finding a game that brings me nearly as much joy to play.

I've heard a lot of people talking about TL2 but I never played TL1 so I'm ignorant on whether or not it's worth giving a shot.

I agree with you on D2. It's definitely one of the best PC games ever and an argument could be made for it being the best period. I have fond memories of that game as a child and even played it for fun again about a year ago.

D3 was bad at release but since their numerous patches it has gotten much better. I played for a few days after release and not much after that until it was patched last month, and now it's a lot more fun and rewarding to play. I anticipate it will get even better over the next few months as they continue to integrate new gameplay.

most anticipated game of your lifetime? sorry, duke-nukem-forever would have to take the cake. not that it was worth that wait, mind you, but it did have the most hype. it was like tf2 and diakatana hype combined.

in any event, i'm working on my fleet starbase in star trek online...

BTW, i got this game, but as with so many steam games, it just won't play on my PC. still haven't figured out how to troubleshoot.

I like the concept of steam, but there really should be a requirement for all games on steam to "just work". it's annoying as hell. and i'm running all-new, top-of-the-line spec parts.

Steam suffers from the same issues all windows programs do, 1000 different pc's by 500 different companies, running 20000 different software versions written by 10000 different companies and it's trying to be the middle man that makes everything work together.

shouldn't be THAT difficult to make sure everything runs on the latest version of DX, but i get what you're saying. i can't even get FF on my own pc to properly run silverlight, so i have to use chrome to watch netflix.

some of it is quite baffling. i previously was able to play serious sam 3 without any issues. currently? i get a graphics display crash on startup--but only if playing non-modded mode. if i play modded mode, it runs just fine.

Mine's an MSI 3k IPS edition. i7-4700Q, 16GB ram, Win 8.1 64 bit, GTX 780M & Intel HD 4600.

If my PC can't run it, even in reduced settings, then something is wrong with the programming.
