I had lowered my weight by a few, but I just could not get under 230. Thanks to my wife, I am at 207 this morning. She has me on a weight reduction program that had me drop 15 lbs in 10 days. I really have no desire to eat and that is helping me stay away from eating after the evening meal. I basically eat oatmeal for breakfast, a skinless chicken breast or tuna with a salad at lunch and a chicken breast for dinner with a vegetable. No eating or snacking after that meal.

The down side to some of my weight loss is loss of muscle mass. I developed a pinched nerve in my neck 2 weeks ago and I am seeing a big muscle loss in my right arm. The arm is significantly weaker than normal and I have a loss of fine motor control. Chiropractor is not helping it at all and I go back to my PCP in the 18th to see about xrays and a specialist. Getting old definitely has its downside.
Without resistance training, proper nutrition and rest, you will certainly lose muscle mass. I would never advocate right out weight loss... The hardest thing to do is increase your strength to weight ratio.

I have been doing okay obtaining strength goals...without any injury...but my weight has been tracking sideways...haven't been cutting back too much intake wise...eating when hungry, trying to be mindful of what/quality of intake, and increasing cardio. A slow and steady cardio...not breaking any speed barriers...again helps maintain muscle mass. A work in progress as usual.

I would consider at least trying to introduce strength training, but I imagine your weight will go up some if you eat properly. But it shouldn't be just weight loss, but your muscle/fat%.

I'm still up in the air on coming due to doc appointments and therapy I can only come Friday and sat but can nit forsee paying 100 dollar guest pass for two days plus fuel and lodging. I really want to come to meet some of you guys in person. Heck I spend more time talking to broom field than his own gf. Granted our conversations are less deep and involve a video game

Damn, Johnny, I hate you had that setback. I'm sure all will be alright.
Granny, get your ass in gear and quit being such a girl.
I have had some setbacks as well. Just trying to find the right balance or exercise, diet and medication. But, I'm still working out, still eating well and hoping to get this sorted soon. I have put on a few pounds, but am trying not o freak out about it. Crap happens. I'm not eating pizza and wings everynight and washing it down with beer, so I know it's just a matter of sorting out my thyroid meds. GGRRRRRR.
There is a girl at the gym that I see now and again and she is ripped!! Not grossly, as in competition form, but has great muscles all over. I use that as motivation. Of course, she's also at least 15 years younger, but screw it. I can try!
No NG for us. We are just too stinking busy. We are looking at next year, though, should there be one.

Yeah, setback doesn't even cover it. I have had a constant half charley horse in my right shoulder blade region for 3 weeks now and understand why someone might get addicted to pain killers. I only take ibuprofen to take the edge off and I am just tired of the pain. I tell people its like having a dull toothache in my back that is always there. The muscle loss and strength loss in my right arm is ridiculous. I'm starting to use my bowflex with reduced resistance to try and salvage what I can until I can get this pinched nerve thing resolved.
Weight loss is another issue. I am eating healthy and a good protein/carb mix. I have always eaten a healthy diet, just too much of it. Portion control was always my biggest issue and my wife has me in such a state of flux that I really do not feel like eating, so portion control is a snap.

Finally getting back into a groove with the carb-addict's diet - my variation of it, anyway - started a few weeks ago and I'm down ten lbs to 280 atm.

Like all diets, there's a good amount of yoyoing to start, before consistent weight loss.

Found a few other strategies I didn't take advantage of last time; have a few more low-carb veggies on the menu for the breakfast/lunch routine (cauliflower, green peppers, cucumbers) during the week, and I can do some protein on weekends cuz I can cook at home, so it's not quite the imposition is was before.

The big thing for me is what John talked about - portion control.

I'm developing new habits, a long-standing need for me.

Also being more active; just moving around, doing some chores/yard-stuff makes a lot of difference, bottom-line.

I have several problems that impede formal exercise; I have horrible knees, and until I can manage to afford to give them some medical attention, they're a real limitation.

The heart meds I take are another impediment; they effectively put a ceiling on my activity level (limits my heart-rate) and the cholesterol drugs really mess with my joints and muscles, so genuine exercise it really not an option.

I walk quite a bit on the job, but I need good level ground to avoid the paranoia of going down unexpectedly with a knee problem...or maybe I should say 'expectedly', as it certainly would happen, sooner or later, without having yet another 'scope/replacement.

Anyway, I hope to stick to this on a more-or-less ongoing basis, cuz I don't mind eating stuff that's better for me, and it certainly helps my energy/activity levels.

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

All you can do is try some good news on my end hit 115 degrees bending but I can't straighten the leg all the ways so really about 110 degrees of motion all together. Also the therapist let me run for four minutes today, did that at 6 MPH made my day I think lol never been so happy to run
