Thread: Got my turbo kit today..

  1. #51
Also.. to post an interesting story... the car wouldn't start yesterday, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I checked the cylinder compression on the front head and each cylinder read 150PSI completely cold. Then I decided I'd check for spark, so I removed all of the front cylinder spark plugs and had my dad turn the car over... two seconds after cranking, the engine fired up with three cylinders o_O Replaced the spark plugs, fired it up again. Problem solved??

It was interesting to me that it could even run on three cylinders - let alone the fact that the problem seemingly magically fixed itself :-P

I hate to be a downer, but making that statement will probably come back to bite you in the ass, most definitely when you least expect it. =/

Hopefully it never does, but that just seems too damn strange!!

Maybe some weird grounding going on within ignition system.

This probably does not make sense, due to the hour of which this post has been written.

Nah, I'm sure there was some sort of issue. As of now the car starts immediately after stat sync (which is damn good for an AEM EMS, especially since I tuned it myself for the first time :-P). I'm going to be installing the DIS-4 here as soon as I can find a connector for it, and will double check the ignition system when I do that.

So it looks like the turbos and parts coming with that kit are Kinugawa turbo's and parts. Interested in seeing how well those turbo's hold up.

I have been reading up on the Kinugawa turbo's and they seem to be pretty good with other platforms.

    Check it out on Youtube!!

Indeed - they're a pretty legit company. I've used one of their component-balanced turbines in a turbo rebuild and it's still going strong after ~15k miles. Come nicely packaged, even. I'd be interested to build a 20G or something for my friend's DSM out of nothing but their parts just to see how it holds up.

So I kept blowing 30A fuses that power my fuel pumps and couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why. I decided to pull the fuel pump bulkhead...

How the fuuuuuuuuuuu....?? Guess I need a new Walbro 255. Anyone have one?

Kinugawa = Kamak Dynamics. They are the same. Kamak is the manufacturer. Theres a few sponsonsors on the board using their STS turbine blades. They own the patent to the STS 9 blades and 11 blades.

Their higher echelon stuff is excellent. They have an exceptional line of billet wastegates with adjustable springs and bov's too.

Google Kamak Dynamics and see what you find
