What do you mean? I'm attempting to recreate the problem on my car by setting it up exactly. Like the 96 car.

    Greg, awaiting your testing.

While we wait a word from our sponsors . . .

OK . . . I figured out the mystery solenoids - decoding ASA is difficult . . . but here it is:

    Code:
12421S	MD113721	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID FUEL PRESSURE / TURBO ALL YRS
    Also used on the 1989-1994 2.0L 2WD/4WD Eclipse, 1995-1999 Turbo 2WD/4WD Eclipse, 1987-1990
    2.4L 2WD Wagon.

    12421T	MD145201	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID WASTEGATE / TURBO ALL YRS
Also used on the 1995-1999 Turbo Eclipse / Spyder.

12421Q	MD126812	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID EGR SOLENOID / TURBO ALL YRS
Also used on many many Mitsubishi vehicles. 1989-1992 1.5/1.6 Mirage 2 Door, 1990-1992
    1.5/1.6 Mirage 4 Door, 1993-1996 1.5/1.8 Mirage, 1989-1994 2.0L 2WD/4WD Eclipse, 1988-1990
Galant Sigma, 1989-1993 Galant (ALL), 1993-1994 Diamante Wagon, 1991-1996 3.0 Diamante,
    1984-1991 3.0 Montero, 1992-1999 3.5 Montero.

05611B	MR323804	CHECK VALVE,FUEL VAPOR CONTROL	EVAP VENT / ALL MODELS ALL YRS
Appears to be used ONLY on the 3000GT Platform . . . probably because of the mount
    location on the charcoal canister.

    12421P	MR323103	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID EVAP PURGE / TURBO 3G
Appears to be used ONLY on the 3000GT Platform . . . probably because of the mount
location on the side of the intake manifold.

    12421P	MR312625	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID EVAP PURGE / TURBO 2G
Also used on the 1995-1999 Turbo Eclipse / Spyder, 1991-1996 3.0 Diamante, 1992-1999
    3.0 & 3.5 Montero.

    12421P	MD110681	VALVE,EMISSION SOLENOID EVAP PURGE / TURBO 1G
    Also used on the 1989-1992 1.6 Mirage, 1989-1994 2.0L 2WD/4WD Eclipse, 1989-1993 2.0
    4WD/4WS Galant.
Now looking further into this the EGR is not the same part number for the TURBO vs NA:

    Code:
    MR127250	3G
    MR161746	2G
    MD126812	1G, 1.5G
It does appear that there are a lot of models that the ER solenoid is used on
And ALSO the EVAP Purge is different for NA models:

    Code:
    MR323103	3G
    MR188756	2G
    MR312625	1.5G
    MD112375	1G
It does appear that there are a lot of models that the EVAP Purge is used on.
Now back to the TURBO EVAP Purge:

The 3G EVAP Purge has a special bracket. But also the 3G EVAP Purge has larger vacumn lines. The actual drive requirments could be different and there could be a hardware change.

Additionally while the 3G has larger vacumn lines on the solenoid, the Purge Control Valve is the same on all years.

So one of the thoughts I had was that the solenoid IS different (verified by physical testing vs. what the book says 'cause the book has errors in it) and therefore the drive requirements are different.

    So Greg, awaiting your testing.

Ok, I read all 62 pages! So, I'm going to be swapping into a 93, will the palm datalogger with mmcd no longer work and all logging will now be done thru evoscan on a laptop, correct? The obd1 port will be useless, and the obd2 port on my conversion harness will be the only one functioning. Just wanting to making sure I can sell what won't work or I don't need. Awesome work by the way!

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. From what I can tell, it should still work even without the pressure sensor. ***edit: this is WRONG! See post 620 below****

The other stuff you posted I already knew about but it's good to know there is no difference between the 94 solinoid I have and the 96 that was initially doing the testing.

BTW: The throttle bodies are also different for the 3G cars too. The P port on top is blocked.

Yep, sell your old logger. You don't need to worry about any of the OBD2 stuff we are working on as you're a 93. Make sure your periphies are set like Aaron's so your CE light stays off.

Where do the old diagnostic wires end up? I have a drbII that should still work to check on abs, srs, ecs...etc, it gets its power externally so that won't be a problem. I assume it should still work unless the old ecu diagnostic wire(s) has some sort of funky voltage on it.

That will all be hooked up and function like stock. The conversion harness that Brett sells include a new connector for the flash wire and tactrix cable.

This is a good question. I will add it to the first page when at my computer and not my phone.

Little update. This is wrong. The periphery needs to be disabled thus disabling the entire purge system.

Thanks to Brett for researching the manual and pointing me in the right direction with this. I came up with an idea to keep this system enabled without the Fuel Tank sensor on the earlier cars. I'll update my purge control thread with details.

Also thanks to Adam for doing the leg work with the solenoids and circuit tracing on the ECU. It appears all the 93-97 cars will for sure be able to keep the purge system with the flashable ECUs. Some testing will need to be done on the 91/92 cars.

50 points to both of you guys!

SO, on the 96 with the clicking solenoid I figured out the problem was he wired the purge solenoid (supposed to be pin 16 on the flash ECU) to the vent solenoid output (pin 35 on the flash ECU). There is no vent solenoid on the 91-97 cars and in the 99 ROM, this solenoid behaves differently than the purge. I'm not going to look too much into that area unless someone wants to use that output for something.

What this means is the 98/99s have 2 purge solenoids and the 91-97 cars have only 1. The purge sucks the vapors out of the charcole canister into the intake. The vent relieves vacuum in the canister by letting air in from the engine bay. I'll get pics of it later when it's light outside.
