did you notice it was tight light a tiger getting the rear of the shaft into the diff flange? I ended up essentially balancing the bolts and using them to force the whatever you call it into the diff flange.

yeah it was tight! Nice, but not too tight. I did get it almost all the way on with elbow grease. Then I tightened with the bolts.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

I just got my Aluminum DS in the mail today and i was wondering how hard of a job it is to replace. Also i was wondering if anyone had a write up for it. The only DS install write up i can find is for the CFDS.

    My question is:

Why do they not make the front section from aluminum as well? Other than a possible problem mounting the slip spline to the aluminum which could be solved with another u-joint, I see no reason not to continue the weight savings by eliminating all the steal.

I am not engineer, so I post this question to you people.
The front section is steel as it is difficult to weld steel to aluminum - just does not make a good marriage - especially on high performance driveshaft. Hope this little bit of info helps....

It just comes down to cost. because of the length of the drive shaft you really dont want a one peice in aluminum. it is said it will vibrate to much. to build a full two piece aluminum would basically mean two drive shafts doubling the cost of the drive shaft. We found a company locally over here that have begun building ours for us. which will be aluminum front and rear shafts. We will start putting them to market after we test them out. we should be hitting the market for under 850.00
