Painted before I ever watched the video actually, based on aesthetics, not a thereoretical 3% performance gain.

BTW, I'll shoot you a message when I get out of class this evening. Going to try to get a few days off over spring break to try to get stuff done (including powder coating) so I'll let you know what I can work out schedule wise.

like said if you want it black, just paint everything but the fins.. That's what transfers the cold from the air..

I know its abit of a necro bump from 10 days ago, but it sounds like family man has the same budget cx unit I nabbed. Im trying some interesting things with it however:

Getting a thermal dispersant on it and the pipe entering the hotside end tank

Rigging some custom ducting

Repurposing the rear washer tank/pump into a built in intercooler sprayer by wiring it with a hobs switch and incorporating misters/fogger rings into the ducting for the core.

Should be a good time seeing how far the cheapie can go. (Granted being 4" thick, it better do SOMETHIN') Let you guys know how it goes.

I don't usually see fin density listed on IC listings. Dimensions and piping size, sure...but not fin desnity, rows of fins, etc.

Indeed. quite baffling isn't it? Hard to make an apples to apples comparison across brands and core options when they don't provide the important information like that.
