That would certainly explain a fair amount of the stupid in the world. Critical thinking skills are an endangered species.

No, not just gas mileage. Weight, handling like a lead brick, lack of safety features, lack of AWD, lack of (OEM) turbochargers, solid rear axles, leaf springs, etc, etc, etc.

For those who are still scratching their heads, I'm a technophile. I rarely hang on to something when there is a better option available. I mean, I grew up liking 80's BMX bikes, but my GOD they were pieces of garbage. 25 years has dramatically improved the durability, weight, performance, versatility & handling of BMX bikes.

Nostalgia doesn't really factor into things for me.

ditto...never could get double digits in my 69 Camaro

My '69 SS396 had an L88 cam, 850 DP and 4:56 rear; cruising I would get 4-5, depending.

Running the highway was brutal and noisy, and fetched me 7 mpg, once.

What was really nuts was I actually thought the gears were a concession to drivability; I had a set of 5:13s on the shelf...
