I can assure you that Churches DO pay income tax, just based on what that church pay's out to it's staff.

But I am sure that applies to all non-profit groups.

Do Non-Profit Organizations Need to File Income Tax? NO

Do non profit corporations pay property tax? NO

To supplement your Google skills, this is directly from the IRS:

Congress has enacted special tax laws applicable to churches, religious organizations, and ministers in recognition of their unique status in American society and of their rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. Churches and religious organizations are generally exempt from income tax and receive other favorable treatment under the tax law; however, certain income of a church or religious organization may be subject to tax, such as income from an unrelated business.

Directly from our Tax accountant that specializes in Churches we pay the FED, FICA, and SOC. on the payroll just like any other employer. What you just quoted is what come in from the offering every Sunday.

yes but the point I am making is that Churches and non-profit orginizations do pay taxes. Too many times people thing that a Non-Profit organization pays no taxes.

we have a member here posting up IRS verbiage that would indicate that they think this way.

The tax system is set up that if you are a true non-profit (all volunteers, no employees) you'll have zero overhead.

The Church itself is not paying income taxes, the EMPLOYEES are paying income taxes.
