    nope. it's not just me.

i've also done similar studies when i was taking statistics back in the day. hershey's is to chocolate what wal-mart is to retail. It's not that hershey's tastes "awful"--it's just widely available and being the most mass-produced chocolate around (except for maybe m&m's, the quality of it does pale in comparison. (i'd actually put m&m chocolate taste on par with hershey's regular chocolate). to their credit, hersheys does make some "premium varieties" which are significantly better tasting--and they do make a pretty damn good white chocolate. it's just that compared to dove (or especially some of the european brands i've tried) hershey's milk chocolate is for chocolate what keystone is for beer. sure, you'll consume it if that's what's available.

    p.s.

here's another one. dove #1, hershey #10 (tie). i've never met anyone (in person) who picked hershey as "better tasting" when given sampels of both to try--side by side (blind or not). must be a PA thing--loyalty to the state brand.

    p.p.s.
i prefer milka & kinder, but if i were stateside, dove is about as good as i can get.

Nothing to do with a PA thing, or loyalty. I could care less where it is made. There is just nothing special about Dove.

Actually Hostess closed because of an ongoing worker strike. They warned the employees that if they didn't get back to work by a certain time that they would be forced to file bankruptcy.

    hmmmm....

"keep my job with less-than-ideal pay/benefits, or picket the company and lose my job entirely while unemployment is still sky-high..."

that's a pretty accurate depiction of the mindset in the USA.
