ZF of Germany recently announced a 9-Speed auto trans for transversal mounting. The 8-Speed that Chrysler will use in the Charger is also made by ZF.
Both transmissions are manufactured in the ZF plant in Greenville, SC.

The DCT in the Mitsubishi Evo is made by Getrag.

    awesome.

although to be perfectly honest, i don't think i'd need more than 6 gears. i'd shorten all of the existing gears (especially first), making 5th roughly equivalent to OD. i'd just have the 6th as an additional OD with gearing that would allow me to go past 200mph.

Give me a wide powerband and as few gears as possible with an auto. The 4spd in my truck has given me an appreciation for TC engines with an auto trans. 800lb ft of torque twisting a trans at peak power and never falling out of boost of power is a pretty sweet thing.

Also amusing to be in a truck that a Mustang GT cant shake while im finishing off a bottle of iced tea..lolol

gearing can really bump MPGs. just comparing same car with 4 and 5 speed auto, can tell alot.

so this will be the first domestic car to have 8speed auto?

Yep and rumors are the new 8hp tranny has a max tq limit of 738 LBS so I will still have plenty of room to mod my next Jeep SRT8.. Might even get 20mpg on the highway
