The writing when Moore was still in the band was the best. Afterward portnoy and petrucci were ok for a while, then when rudess joined there were 2 solid albums, then, stale.

I would say that dream theater is my favorite band though. I also listen to a lot of guitar based music. The largest influence in my playing was Jason Becker. I spent a solid two years playing his material constantly. Now, I may have lost some of the love of his music through repetition, but my playing is extremely technically proficient 15 years later.

I've seen dream theater live 3 times, great show. But, the best show I've ever seen was Steve via in a small club. He played for 3 1/2 hours of pure energy.

I have seen Vai twice. Amazing show from top to bottom. He puts the show in show business for sure.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

If you like bucket head, this guy will blow your mind.

I also have the slonimski's thesaurus of scales and melodic patterns that bucket head, and Shawn lane got a lot of their ideas from. It's a never ending treasure trove of ideas.

My wife was a theatrical singer/performer years ago, so she loves music as well, and digs it when I play satiaini, and vai. She says the rest of the heavy stuff I play sounds like alien music, lol.

LOL Now you have me going down memory lane on youtube. So many great players that just have not been replaced in todays music.

Happened across this little gem of a power package. There are3 versions of this song, all unique, and a good listen. She does a ton of covers. Still looking for an original.
