i think americans have a skewed sense of what makes a good car. take the slk55 amg vs. a corvette. they're both pretty quick in a straight line...but one is manufactured far better.

American cars are cheap and cheaply made. There is little quality put into them and very little pride.

that's what i'm saying. and oh yeah. let's not forget the 8-speed slk amg beat out the manual c6 in a drag race. with less HP. and more weight.

Its funny, over on the Grand Prix forums there are so many people that think American cars are so awesome and anything not American is crap. While my Grand Prix is in pretty damn good shape for having over 162,000 miles, it's definitely not a "quality" car.

lol...in the interest of accuracy, was it not a base corvette vs. a top-of-the-line AMG?

I seem to recall the ZR1 beating out the ultra-rare SL65 in the same publication
