New suspension finally tested and raced! OHLINS!!!

So after saving for awhile I finally bit the bullet and made a phone call to john Meuller. Welcome to Muellerized Suspension Systems

They sent me a set of Road and Track coil overs built to their specifications using my criteria. They do this with all their customers. They want to know how the car is driven so you get exactly what you want. Performance without compromise. I had to sign an NDA so I cant talk about specifics but I can show pictures and vids!

The coil overs came completely built, this is a service done by Mueller's shop. Pre-load and shock settings are already set. After unboxing them I just HAD to take a picture. These things are beauties! Superb quality.

    The knuckle mounts are BEEFY.

Rears installed easily. I had to add some ride height.

After filing the mount holes on the strut tower (was very easy and only took about 7 or 8 minutes to do both sides with a round file) the fronts went on. No issues with these, either.

This is how the car sits right now except I DID raise the rear end another 1/4"

Looks pretty awesome. I would not run a grade 8.8 bolt for suspension parts though.

Right now the rears DO rub the inner metal fender flare, i am getting the fenders rolled this Friday. Hopefully it clears and no more rubbing!

Fronts dont rub but they are simply too low, control arm is angled down, I need another 1/2" at least for the fronts.

I did some driving on some country roads yesterday. The ride is so controlled and any bouncing effect is removed instantly with the shocks. It is hard to describe the difference in suspension quality over my previous setup (Tein Flex). It is like the difference between Ford Escort and a Corvette. The damping is wonderful and that is all I can say about it, lol.

I had an autocross today. Went well. I was very tentative about driving hard. I will say this; this setup can be driven HARDER and DEEPER than the Teins. The rear end NEVER came out to a point that seemed leery, the rear end actually helped the car turn rather than just follow the front around like regular 3/S's do. I had never driven a car that handled like this on the autocross track. There were cars that beat me, yeah, but they should have beat me. I weigh 4000 lbs out there in track form!! I did pretty well. I really want a proper alignment. I didnt have my strut tower bars on, I have to get those re-installed. Thinking of putting them on at NG, the rear one makes putting crap in the hatch suck.

My alignment is god awful. I bet the rears arent within a half degree of each other. The fronts are possibly even but I messed with the steering arms so at least the steering wheel is straight.... I have to get an alignment before the 2200 mile trip to STL for NG, dont want to wear out these Dunlops.

Ok so here are a few of the autocross vids.

First slalom section, a little too hot and crappy operating skills, messed it up.

This was my best run of the day but there were still lots of areas to improve upon.

I am pleased with my purchase even though they were more than DR-750's.

The support from Muellerized has been incredible. I called them at 7:30 with a small concern over the ride height and John was on the phone with me seconds after the sales guy put me on speaker with him. I have some concerns to bring up to them still but John has been to Pikes Peak this week so tech stuff is on hold. I am doing a track day at The Ridge Motorsports Park next Sunday, I will have vids for that, too. Outside suspension vids, too.

If you want to change the way your car drives, dropping 3 grand on a set of heads doesnt do it.... Dropping 5 grand into a setup to just blow your stock bottom end doesnt do it (Sorry Forrest, lol) OHLINS DOES IT!!

Remember, Performance without compromise. Thats the Muellerized way. Thats how I want it done.

Man those look sexy, I have always been annoyed with the bounciness of the tein flex but I don't want anything that rides any harsher either like JICs etc. Now to save $3500......

I just did the conversions thanks to Google. Grade 8.8 is equivalent to about a grade 5 which is not weak by any standards but not the best.

You're right though a 10.9 is 20-30% stronger it looks like.. Well, these are the bolts they supply with all their setups and they have several hundred across the nation. I'm sure if they had problems with them they would not have given them to me.

    DOOOO IIIIIIT!!

My settings are still in the middle I believe. I want to try out going softer, have to hear back from the guys though to "get permission". It is kind of annoying but once I know everything I can adjust freely.

I hope I can get a ride at NG. I'm curious how they compare to my Apexi's even though I know the dampening will be much better. I wasn't ready to drop $3500 on a set of coilovers for the street so I opted for about half of that. I'm surprised you had the Teins that long. They really do suck.

    Very nice!

I may have missed it but what are the spring rates you chose?

I am extremely happy with the BC racing ER coils on my car, got them for a good deal ~2k. Ohlins are the tits though! Can't wait to upgrade to them later.
