blacky, halo was an attempt to bring online multiplayer FPS to consoles. it was a poor attempt, imho. vehicles have been rather poor since the get-go. ut2k4 scorpion > halo warthog--any day of the week. storyline didn't matter, and i couldn't really give another shit about frickin space marines. the fact that MS deliberately held up a PC version of the game for YEARS until after it was long in the tooth, didn't help either--there would be no cross-platform support from modders. i don't remember how many play modes halo 1 & 2 had, but i know for certain that by the time i was done downloading all the mods & conversions for 2k4, it had over a dozen gameplay modes & several total-conversion mods. that includes modes like jailbreak, assault & carball...as well as conversions like alien swarm & red orchestra.

now if none of that matters to you because you prefer single-player, that's fine. halo also brought the suck there. deus ex 1 had the best storyline out of any FPS ever made, and HL 1&2 was a close 2nd. i would put halo after DOOM 1 for "storyline originality". and fricking timesplitters had better gameplay.

I find that first sentance hilarious. Considering THE FIRST HALO HAD NO ONLINE PLAY! It was pre xbox live. The only online play it had was XBOX Connect which utilized your PC hooked up through ur xbox using System Link. And it was not made by microsoft either. It was a third party program... Halo PC was the first online version which did not come out till a few years later just before Halo 2 iirc.

I find that first sentance hilarious. Considering THE FIRST HALO HAD NO ONLINE PLAY! It was pre xbox live. Thats just stupid then. U cant say something was made to be something specific without including the original as a contribution to the idea and goal. Halo wasnt meant to turn into a huge frenchise. It just kinda worked out that wau. First one came out, and it just exploaded originally they were going to stop at 1. Then at 3... but the games still just do so well. And the fanbase is so huge they change their mind... I understand you dont like halo. But dont make stuff up to support your own opinion. This isnt U.S Politics. We dont do that here.

Its like people who hate Nickleback. Sure alot of their songs sound the same... but they havent sold millions of albums and made millions of dollars because they suck! Lol

You find the first sentence hilarious because you obviously don't know the history of Halo. Halo was supposed to be a MMOFPS until Bungie was bought by Microsoft.

...and bungee became a shill for MS to sell more XBOX. MS also tried this with Rare, and failed. MS should just sell rare to Nintendo and call it a day. Nintendo is where Rare made all the good games anyways.

how does a game which wasn't even released when MMOFPS on the xbox was possible at the time since xbox live hadn't been released yet? and the game didn't even provide that option, or anything of the sort, designed to be a MMOFPS? that makes no sense to me...

That statement would be relevant for Halo2. but halo 1 it is not. it only had system link, as did alot of different games at the time too...
