LOL at video... Live action halo thing caught my attention tho
1. halo has always been the helment-wearing, short-bus riding, retarded-cousin, red-headed step-child of FPS gaming. Live-action media based on games has been lackluster at best. I smell fail. (oh, and spielberg raped indiana jones).
2. if you thought the backlash against the game offerings on the Wii-U was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. by the time xbox rolls out, nintendo will probably have several 1st party, mass-following games already out.
3. once again, nintendo decided that people don't need to pay for a bunch of features that have nothing to do with gaming (tivo, blu-ray playback, etc). since cable companies usually provide DVR's, and since blu-ray players are piss-cheap....i think sony & MS are going to come out on the losing end when they have to sell at a loss just to push unit sales.
4. i don't know if i'll ever be able to stop laughing as the "uber-1337-hardcore-gamer" console tries to become more mainstream & branch out with more kinect, etc. so much for EVERY argument levied against the Wii--ever.
5. live? seriously? people still are on board with paying to play online...when you can do so on a PC scot free? and now that MS wants MORE DRM & has decided to take a page from EA's playbook regarding online functionality....yeah, i think fans are going to be voting on this one with by running the other direction.
6. of course they can't focus on graphics. that's because even the highest-quality console offerings are 720p upscaled to 1080p. EVERY SINGLE 8th gen console will be able to graphically handle what's thrown at it--because the limit is 1080p.
MS has a hard road ahead--competing head to head with sony during the holiday season this year. i will say this though: nintendo has the head start this time. if developers start spurning nintendo in favor of sony/MS, it's an indication of pure bias. there's no hardware limit, and there most certainly is an installed-user-base advantage with the Wii-U...even if it's a modest one.
i think i will be upgraDING MY cpu instead.... because as it sits my pc has better hardware than the new xbox ...
Reach was def good I really enjoyed playing the anniversary edition of the first one on hardcore with a friend was epic , my friend always discounted me as a fps player until that game because he could always beat me at the new ones

eww. the first halo was a desperate UT knockoff. it never really got much better. UT2K4 was the gold standard for many years.
and though it's no fault of MS, i have to put up with a LOT fewer pre-pubescent insult-machines on PC gaming than i do on console gaming. REAL men type.
I've played UT, tho it has been years........I see absolutely no relation between either.... other then FPS.....
I think your comparing Multiplayer gaming...which for the most part I don't give two shits about... and I'm comparing simple game play and story line...
I love halo for the story and the game play...rarely play multiplayer.
Either way, the new Xbox seems like to me buying yourself into slavery...
Kool you have to pay a fortune for console that you are super limited to what you can do, there a rules...you have to pay a fee to play used games... you have to pay for EVERYTHING and you HAVE to have the internet to play it. thats pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. because I know alot of current 360 owners with no internet or no xbox live. the whole system is bullshit. I hope it all tanks, and gets run into the ground and who ever thought this up all looses their jobs for being so incredibly greedy, and not even coming close to thinking about the gamer. only thing I see them thinking about is money money money.
also lets not forget how terrible durability wise the original xbox360's were.... (even tho mine is a Gen1, i am amazed it has lasted this long...it has red ringed many many times... usually about twice a year) I see the same fate for the first few generations of this new xbox.

blacky, halo was an attempt to bring online multiplayer FPS to consoles. it was a poor attempt, imho. vehicles have been rather poor since the get-go. ut2k4 scorpion > halo warthog--any day of the week. storyline didn't matter, and i couldn't really give another shit about frickin space marines. the fact that MS deliberately held up a PC version of the game for YEARS until after it was long in the tooth, didn't help either--there would be no cross-platform support from modders. i don't remember how many play modes halo 1 & 2 had, but i know for certain that by the time i was done downloading all the mods & conversions for 2k4, it had over a dozen gameplay modes & several total-conversion mods. that includes modes like jailbreak, assault & carball...as well as conversions like alien swarm & red orchestra.
now if none of that matters to you because you prefer single-player, that's fine. halo also brought the suck there. deus ex 1 had the best storyline out of any FPS ever made, and HL 1&2 was a close 2nd. i would put halo after DOOM 1 for "storyline originality". and fricking timesplitters had better gameplay.
