Mortality rate in Montana when they had no speed limit actually went down. Somebody doing 55-60 while other people are doing 90 isn't much different than the interstate system now.

It is here. We obviously have the people going slowly, but we don't have anyone doing 90 because our local highways are covered in police.

Hmm.Touche. Hadn't thought about that only speeding ticket I ever got was in PA.

Tn and upstate NY are both fairly barren of cops. I'll see one in a blue moon.

VA is Satan's asshole for anybody driving on the interstate. Cops everywhere.

truth. i feel a lot more comfortable doing 90mph down an autobahn than i do when i'm going 65mph down an interstate.

The National speed limit for motorways in the UK is 70mph, but generally speaking the police are happy for you to drive at 90mph providing your not driving like a tit
An unlimited speed limit would be much better as it would stop people lane hogging thinking I'm doing 70mph so its ok to stay in the fast lane, if you know that some may be doing 150mmph + you will be a lot more observant

People here feel entitled so they "police" traffic by blocking lanes. There's a stretch of road I'm on that the speed limit is 35 but everybody goes 45-50 except for the one person who goes 35 just because they think other people going faster is unsafe.

That's exactly what I mean. If you take the speed limit away, there is no need to police a non existent speed limit

The one and only speeding ticket I've ever gotten was a 59 in a 55 issued to me by a southern Delaware state patrol man. Guess they commonly target out of state drivers in nice cars because they need the $$ and detest travelers heading to the beach.

I think we should cap the speed limit at 70 IMO, especially on the big highways. The General American driver, is a stupid one, and distracted at that. I'm all for going fast, but there are alot of PEOPLE, in a lot of different kinds of vehicles I would not be comfortable sharing roads with driving speeds greater then 80...or 70, or 65, 55 or whatever.

BFE areas with long empty stretch of 1 lane highways is another story tho.

most highways are 55-65 here... TN there wasn't much 55, but alot of 45 and 70. occasional 55's
