A quick (orange-tinted) review of Baylor, OSU, WVU, KU, and K-State recruiting -
How the other half lives: Evaluating Big 12 recruiting in 2013 Pt. 1 - Barking Carnival

I had no idea KU brought in a class full of jucos. Looks like every week is going to suck again in the B12, haha.

I didn't know that about Kansas, either.

Very good breakdown of WVU's new signees. So pleased with our new class. We've got more DL than the author sees(admittedly not his fault). A LB recruit showed up at 290 instead of 240, so he's most likely going to get injected into the line immediately(with as many LB's as we took in, this is no concern). I have very high hopes for our defense this year. We've finally got physical, dedicated, guys that want to kill everything on the field. Watch out for Karl Joseph, Isaiah Bruce, and Al-rasheed Benton(this kid's highlight reel is just nasty), and a few others looking to make a name.

Wtf is wrong with these kids?

Just a month after reveling in the glory of a national championship, four members of the University of Alabama football team have been arrested after a pair of campus robberies....Three of the players -- defensive lineman Dennis "D.J." Pettway, linebacker Tyler Hayes and running back Brent Calloway -- appeared in 13 games last season. The fourth, defensive back Eddie Williams...According to police, Pettway, Hayes and Williams punched and kicked a student shortly after midnight Monday until he was unconscious...The student's backpack with an Apple Macbook Pro was stolen, police said. About an hour later, Williams allegedly beat up another student until he, too, lost consciousness and took his wallet...The football program suspended all four players indefinitely.

So long as Shane Morris doesn't turn out to be a dud a la Tate Forcier, the Wolverines should have a great up coming season...

    K. Joseph impressed the hell out of me against Texas. I didn't even realize he was the one responsible for this...

In other news, Marquis Goodwin ^ looks like he may run a sub 4.3 at the combine (he tweeted something about a 4.28 on his first attempt at a 40 in a long time). Good thing we gave him like 2-3 touches a game.

I wasn't going to bring that up, again. I thought Goodwin was dead. Yeah, Karl is a headhunter and I expect he will be the leader of the D, even as a true soph.

One of our JUCO commits, Mario Alford, is a true 4.3 flat 40 guy. Lots of people claim it, this dude is the real deal. Look for him to step in to the slot and fill the void left by Tavon Awesome. Same build, 5'9" 175lbs. Of which, I can't wait to see Tavon's 40 at the combine. He's got a nice quote going around from Todd McShay..."Tavon Austin might be the quickest human being I've ever studied on tape".

Is the NCAA considering changing rules to eject people for 'dirty' hits? K.Jo may need to adjust a little, but I remember his coverage skills being damn near just as good as his physical tackling...

And yeah, it's always very interesting to see how fast these guys REALLY are. Tavon has better 'football speed' than Marquise, that's for sure, even if 'quise runs a better 40 than Tavon.

Yeah, that just came out. Talking about ejecting players for hits on defenseless receivers. In the case of Joseph v. Goodwin, I don't think it would apply. He was a runner, and he lowered his head. These rules are getting silly, IMO. Football is a violent sport, always has been. Make it safer by making better equipment, I say.

The problem with trying to solve it on the equipment side, is that, while modern energy absorbing materials (foam, rubbers, etc) are pretty amazing, the key to allowing them to really absorb energy is to have lots of distance for the material to deflect. A football helmet only allows for, what, half an inch of deflection in the foam? Whatever the amount, it only prevents a certain percentage of the energy from being transferred into the skull. Given how often concussions are happening, and our current obsession with long term brain damage (with or without concussions), it's safe to say the current foam thickness isn't even close to what will be needed.

So in the future, our road unis may resemble Darth Helmet a lot more than they do storm troopers
