I'm far from a materials engineer, lol. Guys that have had multiple, or recent, concussion(s) wear those oversized helmets. They say it's awkward at first, but they get used to them, and the support is allegedly much better. I dunno. I just hate all the sissified rules.

I don't know what to think about the upcoming season. It's hard to be too excited with losing so much talent on offense. I'll still watch and root, but I am not going in with high hopes. This way, if they have a sub-par season I won't be disappointed, but if they have a decent season I will be pleasantly surprised.

Oklahoma football 2013: 3 departures put depth chart in peril - SBNation.com

looks like they will only have 3 players on the DT and CB depth charts heading into spring.

This is about as reasonable as me saying Geno Smith was the reason WVU's season was terrible. 2012 was the worst Texas defense in the history of the football program. To say this team goes 11-2 if the defense has the season they were supposed to is not a stretch.

    9-4 (5-4)
    (W) Wyoming, 20/27 (74%), 156 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT; 134.8 rtg
    (W) New Mexico, 16/22 (73%), 221 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT; 187.1 rtg
    (W) @ Ole Miss, 19/23 (83%), 326 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT; 259.1 rtg
    (W) @ Oklahoma St, 30/37 (81%), 304 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT; 171.4 rtg
    (L) West Virginia, 22/29 (76%), 269 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT; 165.2 rtg
    (L) @ Oklahoma, 13/29 (45%), 113 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT; 63.8 rtg
    (W) Baylor, 19/31 (61%), 274 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT; 146.2 rtg
    (W) @ Kansas, 8/16 (50%), 63 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT; 58.1 rtg
    (W) @ Texas Tech, 11/19 (58%), 264 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT; 226.7 rtg
    (W) Iowa State, 25/31 (81%), 364 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT; 200.6 rtg .... (Ash injured ribs late)
    (L) TCU, 10/21 (74%), 104 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT; 70.2 rtg .... (rib injury killed arm strength)
    (L) @ K-State, DNP
    (W) Oregon State, 21/33 (64%), 241 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT; 138.9 rtg

    Season Stats:
    David Ash: 214/318 (64%), 2699 yds, 19 TD, 8 INT, 153.3 rtg (#20 overall)
    Braxton Miller: 148/254 (58%), 2039 yds, 15 TD, 6 INT, 140.5 rtg (#44 overall)
    Geno Smith: 369/518 (71%), 4205 yds, 42 TD, 6 INT, 163.9 rtg (#5 overall)

OU loss - team effort, Ash looked just as bad as the rest of the team
WVU loss - horrible defense, bad snap from Espinosa on woulda-been game winning drive
TCU loss - Ash's fault because he wasn't honest with the coaches

And I was extremely encouraged by the way we used Ash in the 2nd half of the Alamo Bowl. I think our offense is going to be dirty in 2013.

I misinterpreted what Mike was saying; I thought he was talking about OU not having a QB. Didn't know he was talking at you.

more random stats to show just how terrible Ash is...

Yds / Attempt; Yds / Completion; rush att; rush yds
    Ash: 8.49; 12.61; 51; 141
    Miller: 8.03; 13.78; 227; 1271
    Smith: 8.12; 11.40; 66; 151

I bet Ash runs a lot more often, more effectively, as a junior, behind a now veteran O-line.

I'm crossing my fingers that the Belldozer is OU's QB
