Thread: Highest recorded top speed of 3/S? Has anyone ever broke 200mph...

My opinion is that they are awesome! Vents would be many times effective than holes, because you can aim the outflow with louvers. If you had holes, the outflow would diffuse and expand, and go to the path of least resistance.

I don't have the active Aero wing on my vr4 right now, I have not done any testing at all as of yet. Just A LOT of homework until the car is running again (SOON! SOON! Like a matter of a week or two)

Ive had my chameleon car well over 200 quite a few times. Besides the hood lifting high in the back I never had any issues at all. My red 96 has been buried past the 180 mark a few times but im not sure I stayed it it long enough for 200. It was climbing good so I know its not a problem. That car had no issues either and has a stock hood so I didnt have the hood bowing up in the middle. The older I get the more I think about hitting a deer or having a tire blow out. I also refuse to do it if theres anyone else on the road so it has to be reallg late at night... with the deer lol

There ya go, 600ish will get you 200 mph in a stock bodied 3/s.

J.Fast your front end is shaped like a barn. Look at all the cars racing at Daytona right now, their bumper openings are very small, easily you have 4x the opening that those guys do. They have much less HP than you (even the GT cars) and are hitting 185 every oval.

It's your mismatch Side skirts creating all the drag. JK but on a serious note get 2nd gen stealth side skirts to smooth out the body and a stock hood and true 99 nose will help too. Oh ya and SIDE WINDOWS!

Doesn't look like that anymore man.

It's all carbon fiber. Front and rear fenders, doors, hatch... Windows will be a tricky compromise. For one, I don't think I can secure them at 200+mph speeds with CF doors. The doors won't even support the OEM mirrors at those speeds. I'm thinking I'll likely have to make something with zeus fittings and pin them to cut down on the flexing.

Yep, I'm definitely parachuting with those SMIC holes. I have no use for them. I'll come up with something.

i always had an impression that opening the glass roof will actually get pushed down since it acts like spoiler because of it's angle.

It definitely gets sucked out. I know of at least one person who lost their glass roof doing a high speed run because pressure ripped it off.

Yet another reason 3rd gens FTW. I dont think 300 mph would phase the electric roof, haha.

My sunroof handles highspeeds fine of course i just installed all brand new hardware... purhaps that is most peoples problem with the 1G sunroof.

Of course im talking a maximum of 150mph....so it may be after that ppl r having problems.
