I had a weird feeling about my Jeep...like something was going to happen to it. I'm glad I found this car and got it...even though it means paying 2 car payments for the next 3 months..So I thought. Not sure if they are going to total out my Jeep...If I didn't have the Ralliart, I would be up a creek.

Your car insurance pays for a rental car until you find a replacement.

Provided you opt in for rental coverage, which is not free and exactly why I don't.

    Nice car, Linda.

Yeah, the FAST key is pretty sweet, it took me a while to get used to not having it lol.

Why would you have to opt in for a rental car if the accident is not your fault?

Because that's not how insurance works(most of the time). Typically, your insurance pays your loss, then goes after the person/insurance that hit you. If you don't have a rental rider on your policy, you're paying it out of pocket until your claim gets settled. They're all different, with their own standards of policy.

Most people do have the rental rider because they don't take the time to look at what they're actually paying for. I do, and I get rid of all the stuff I don't need (effectively lowering my rate).

I didnt even have full coverage when my car got totaled and I got a rental for over a month, payed for by their insurance. Guess my insurance payed it and then went after them? Oh well.

Ya, it all depends on the insurer. Some will pay it, some won't. In my experience I've always been told no, because I don't elect for rental coverage. Even full coverage when a tree (on city property) fell on my wife's Spyder, they said no.
