    Planning an Exhaust System

Okay, so the goal of this exhaust system will be for it to be deep and relatively loud.

Id remove the stock muffler, and install a 2.5" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet Dynomax Ultra-Flo Welded muffler in its place. From there, Id run 2.5" piping to each side of the car. On each side of the car, Id have dual 3" non resonated tips.

Should this be a good setup for what I want? What would you change?

Im having guys at a shop do this. Im bringing the muffler and tips to the guys. For tips, I was thinking of getting 4 of these and having the guys weld them into pairs.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

V-band clamps, get em. You will regret it if you don't.

Personally I'm not a fan of real loud exhausts, but to each his own, go for it and post a vid!

You really are not going to acheive a deep sound with a DOHC.

it's deep and throaty, quiet when you want it to be, loud when you want it to be. the video really doesn't do it justice at all, but you kinda get the idea.

That Dynomax is going to sound like garbage TBH

Get a Flowmaster 80 Series Crossflow muffler w/factory resonator. Get rid of the catalytic converter but don't use a test pipe. Instead, use another resonator, your local shop should have something that will fit 2.5". I used to have a test pipe and although it sounded good at idle, it sounds like garbage at higher RPM. The 2nd resonator will keep the tone and control the raspy wet fart sound when you go WOT. I would also not recommend going with side pipes as you will get a loud clappy sound as opposed to a nice deap "wubwub" sound, just go straight pipes from the rear resonator to the back of the car. I also went with the 3sx downpipe but didn't really notice a huge difference in sound after adding it. I will try to post a link of my exhaust tomorrow and maybe give you a better idea. Please do not use a Dynomax.

Why do you think that the Dynomax is going to sound like garbage? Have you heard one before on a 3000GT or Stealth? The only reason Im asking this is because Dynomax and Magnaflow have been recommended time and time again for n/a 3000GTs on forums.

So, youre saying to replace the cat with a resonator? Wont I fail emissions?

rather stupid to do on n/a, imho. and people who want an exhaust such as you describe don't drive their cars with any frequency. those who have usually end up looking for something a little less rattling on their brains. it's also ricey as heck to open up the exhaust on a car that makes such a low amount of HP to begin with.

if you want deep & loud, 2.5" single shot will do it--i promise you that. heck, just eliminating the cats will make your exhaust loud.
