Dude, it's got a 350... No way it does only 40 . Pretty sure it is just for looks.

I bet it's a blast to drive, such a low center of gravity.

That max speed is an original decal/paint. That's just paying homage to the original.

With a 350, and is light as that thing is I guarantee it moves out pretty decent.

Taking the offroad pics is pretty dumb, that's just posing. Obviously, that vehicle can't really go off road.

Hoped so. I'd like to see some videos of this thing hauling ass on the street.

    You hate it then

I hang out with my bro-in-law at the VW shows sometimes and this is the exact same thing you would see there. I'm sure it would go faster than 40 but I bet it hasn't been faster than 55. They come to the shows, cruise around in the mountains, maybe do some burnouts, then camp and get drunk.

In fact as soon as it was done being constructed he took it on an 800 mile round trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas and home again and made it back with time to spare.

I highly doubt this trip was doing 40 MPH on the highway.

i want a better look at the front suspension and how they tied it into the leaf springs. from looking at it it would prolly be pretty rough at any speed

thats a military thing, has been for years...

...when i was in, it was a HUGE deal to have the tire pressure on each fender, but speeds have long ago been ignored.

    Parking lot.

Imo, same as the whole stance thing, but "more hardcore". A littile ironic though, that a scene previously well known for being collectively pissed-the-fuck-off and rebelling against The Man, is now only an imitation of the original. Bonus +25 fad points, if the owner has some sort of Rockabilly costume on..... you know, to complete the look.

I'd say the workmanship is good but on what basis? Is it able to withstand idiots careening straight for him on public roads, or does it get trailred to the parking lot (hardcore!) to pose for the SLR cameras that those "photographers" use as part of ir "photographer's blog" starter kit.

Eh, it's his bag, he's probably really happy with it so it so it's whatever. More power to him.
