New 3si mods...?

Oh, I understand everyone's feelings, I really do. I won't quote entire posts and address it point by point as it would just feed the fire. I am saddened and - where some of the more crass comments are concerned-, insulted by many of the things said here. I won't try to justify my actions, nor do I need to. I've made no controversial decisions as a moderator so there is no reason to chastise me for that. All I have done is accept the position offered to me during a time of great distress on a website that I care for deeply.

You may disagree with it and not understand it but the least any single one of you can do is be somewhat respectful with some of your comments as I have done nothing to warrant anything but.

Jeff, you feel you can affect change from the inside..I get that. Hell people always resent the guy on the line with them being bumped up to management. Comes with the territory. Then again I personally get this, others may not. It's also kinda a moot point considering that the community > the site; and the bulk of those you should consider brothers after 6+ years of friendship are here now and not there anymore. Ehhhh but again that is my singular pov.

p.s. I'm serious about the LW not being fit to lead though..but mostly because I feel in my heart of hearts that he's just too old and set in his ways. He's not evil, or a purposeful bigot.. He's just an old Southerner.....like my friend's dad that still calls people 'Colored.'

The words of a few people here make me very sad.

The actions of one person (two if you count Nadeem, but he is paid to protect an investment so he has an excuse) over there make me very sad. Some people make good mods, some people don't. From what I've seen so far, I think you and dbest will be the former. As for the "super moderator", I have seen the temperament of LW in the chatter section. Before he stepped down as classified's mod due to time constraints, it got to the point where I would purposely set him off just to laugh at his ridiculous responses. Adding ultimate power to that attitude is a recipe for disaster.

I should point out that it has been a long standing part of the TOS that insults to the moderation staff are grounds for a vacation.

In all honestly I know the site would be much better off in your hands. You care enough to hear the voices of the people that made the site. The forum is nothing without the people. I sure as hell don't blame you for taking the position. Hell I'm glad you got it. I know you are level headed and can handle an intellectual argument without editing a post like a 10yr old brat.

Yea, I started a thread asking why it was closed. It seemed like Blue91sl's comment had something to do with it. My thread vanished overnight and I got this PM from LW earlier;

that post you put up was not the reason why the thread got locked. I answered that post via PM to the blue dude. The thread got locked because imperfectdarkness was only using it to bitch at the owners and wasn't trying to make suggestions. Nadeem originally told me to leave the thread open a few days and then close it. I left it open for a week, until the drama queens came out in force since there was no where else to attack the mods, admins or owners at, and tried to derail the suggestions for improvement thread. A thread in which we had acted on some very valid ideas and implemented a few, and have others that we are working on. (we should have a mobile phone app in a few weeks/months)

When imperfect, alias, mean green and UT gang up together to do no good, there is nothing that can be said or done to correct the situation. Nothing i say will change it, nothing the admins say will change and nothing the site owners do will make a difference to those few. If they cannot fix the site to their satisfaction they should leave and go where their input is valued. None of the mods here value their input. Some ARE more tolerant than i am though. But they haven't been dealing with this crap for 7 friggin years. Therefore the thread got closed, I got to make my first suspension for more than 2 days EVER, and imperfect was dealt with the next morning by the admins. Mean green is one post away from following them off. I refused to ban or suspend UT, or imperfect because i had a conflict of interest with them from past issues, i have left the admins to deal with them. When UT's time out ends, he's one mouth off away from a global ignore or a ban. Same with imperfect.

As you can tell, i am not afraid of discussing things with people in that thread, i've explained our position several times, and their argument hasn't changed, therefore we are ending their argument for them. They are welcome to go to Alan if they need to, because David puts my assistance higher than imperfects arguments/roadblocks. I have made 1, thats right 1 suspension on 3si since returning, and that was last night. Everyone else i wasn't the one doing the punishing. I've reported several posts to the admins, some they've ignored, some they've taken action.

Anyway that is the explanation.

Hell, I haven't posted on 3SI for days... and never will again, so long as he is a moderator. I certainly haven't been "ganging" up on him, anyone with half a brain can outthink LW, it doesn't take a group.

For the record, I don't have a problem with any of the other mods. Let's face it, LW got the job solely because of working the classified section with DPF. Charger got the job because he talks to LW about chargers. Dbest got the job because he has a challenger. Jeff is the only one who isn't a part of LW's circle jerk.

Dbest, Charger... all of you. If you truly want to be good moderators, you need to do the right thing, and that is realize that there are a TON of people who hate LW as a mod. Believe me, they have good reason. Get rid of LW and see how much easier your job gets. That alone would earn you the gratitude of many of the older members.

I have another name on 3SI, have had it for years. So I've browsed a bit here and there, and I don't see an outcry for anyone else to get the boot... except LW. Why do you think that is? He is too incompetent to serve as a moderator of any forum.

At any rate, Alan couldn't have hoped for a better way to get his site up and running. With LW pissing people off left and right, it's easy to see that this site will be the 3S website of choice much sooner than later.

However, I will say this... those of you who DO have the balls to speak out about his behavior are fighting the good fight.

Jeff, you should consider joining them. If you think a complacent attitude on your part is going to bring about the change the site needs, you are sorely mistaken.

Actually, I wasn't asked I volunteered by inquiring how to become a moderator. And I will say issues are not being ignored. And having a Challenger and being a moderator are about the only thing Lord Warlock and I have in common.
