Yeah the metal ones do a great job of holding the vinyl down from lifting. l also used "Amazing Goop" to glue down what was lifting. Jeff's site has a great write up on fixing it all.

Its not even on the map right now.

The LCD boost controller/logger install is my winter project.

I put OEM back in like 5 years ago and they still look perfect. The last version has a better design with reinforced areas. If the dash hasn't warped there is nothing to really cause pressure on them either. The key is re-gluing any lifted edges of the vinyl and pinching it down with binder clips until the glue sets. And I'm not afraid to pull the dash once every 8-10 years if necessary

I installed the 3SX 'Easy Install' vents in mine, but while they were replacing my Windshield. ( I know that is cheating)
I've since built a 'Special Tool' for getting in there if they ever have to come out or need tightening.
It's basically a long thin steel screwdriver with the Allen Key taped on to the end of it. Works great, but you have to be patient.

    Cheers,

Yeah, I had a pair of needle-nose vice-grips with the allen wrench in it.

Well, if you have brushed aluminum speaker covers, lower door sills, door sills and silver stitching on your seats it might just match.
