    datalogging for dummies

    so I recently purchased a datalogger...Palm\MMCD type.

Got it installed and working on my car, but having some problems figuring out how to work it. Don't let my age fool you, I suck with technology as far as figuring it out from scratch....

    anyways. 1st question.

Saving my Log: I made a log, and tried to save it

    I do MMCD LOG > Log > Rename\Upload Log

I do that, then hit ok. and screen returns to the log screen... is this even the right thing? where did the log get saved to?

2: is there some guide or write up on reading the logs. such as what to look for, Really onlything I looked at so far was knock....which was 7...and thats in my N\A DOHC on 93oct. So I'm going to adjust my Base Timing...

reason I ask is cause car acts a little funny sometimes. In the mornings when the car is cold, fresh start for the day. between 1-2k rpms car hesitates bad when I try to accelerate. I'll give it gas, and i sputters and does nothing if i give it more gas, it will sputter then all the sudden kick and drive fine. If I keep rpms above 2k car drives fine...it only does this for about 2-3 mins or pulling out of my garage and driving half way out of my apartment complex in the morning. then its fine.

This issue, and my Idle is very Unsteady. It idles as if it's mildly cammed, Very lopy. Brup brup brup brup brup scattity scattity brup brup brup...etc. never changes. it's always pretty consistant. anything under 1000 rpms and that's how it sounds....

if someone could help me with these issues and tell me what to look for....and or give me some tips that would be great.

Have you checked to make sure that your ECU is in good shape with no leaking caps?

I have not. Its reman ecu about a year old and I don't want to brake the seal. Was waiting for 2nd ecu to show up in pull yard or something.

So reading that. There's no way to save a log to the PDA so u can view it or do multiple logs?

When you are done with log, you can go back to initial screen, which will show your saved logs.

You have an NA? It sounds like you have an intake leak...but my experience is with a TT, also check your IAC/ISC for idle issues.

Thank u. I bookmarked that. I'm going to play with it today and take advantage of the testing features.

Also when I go back to the screen. There is nothing there other then the button to start a new log.
