Haha, actually my two 4.0's never broke, once. The 93 has 200k+ on it and is still kicking ass and taking names. The '02 WJ was stolen and totalled.

Had a GC with the 4.0 for a few years, sold that about 8 yrs ago, only problems I ever had were brakes chewing up rotors faster than they should, and electrical gremlins with the power windows.

Now I have an 03 Liberty, it's simple, plain, can tow my car crosscountry no problem, and takes 87 octane. What's not to like?

Don't know why all the hate for Jeep/Chrysler but whatevs.

I and my family have had Cherokees, Grand Cherokees (every generation), Liberties, Wranglers, and tons of other Chrysler products, no major problems with any of them. Great vehicles. My Overland is about to turn 100k, it runs great, I love the 4.7 HO.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

    Its a grand cherokee.
Just wanting to know what to watch out for. It sounds like it has a case of lifter tick. Changed oil and it helped a little. Rotors got chewed up easily like someone else said. Other than that it is flawless. But with over 100k on the clock and a baby on the way I want to be prepared.

Only other thing that i hear of is bad gas mileage and occasional transmission issues, but that varies. XJ's last forever

gas mileage is decent on the highway but sucks in town. only trans problems we have is I broke the plastic end off the cable that comes from the trans to the throttle body. that messed the the 1-2 shift and it seems like the TC lock-up. i pulled one off an older GC in the pull-a-part with the same motor but its not quiet the same and the 1-2 shift is still hard.

What engine / tcase is your WJ? Pics!

If you have a 42RE tranny in it (i.e. 4.0 w/ 242tc) just make sure to take care of it ...

My girl has an '02(?) wrangler. It's moderately fun to cruise around w/ no doors or roof in the summer, however I hate to work on the thing. It always seem to need a completely random-sized wrench or tool that I do not own for the simplest of jobs. Nothing has ever gone as easy as it should on the damn thing. Even swapping the TPS last week turned into an epic battle between good and evil. That aside, I don't own the thing, so I don't wave...ever...sorry.

I'm looking for a FMIC kit, if you are selling one, PM me.
