Thread: preliminary single turbo results

  1. #11
Nice, Gene! Keep up the good work.

I can't wait to see the final results on a stock longblock (minus intake and tb). I have pretty much the same setup, except mine is a stock longblock.

Where can I find more info on this single turbo setup? Pricing, pics, etc.

What size are your intercooler piping? All 3"?

tentative price is 7k for a full kit including FMIC/BOV/wg/headers/crossover/turbo/oil lines/necessary heat wrap/couplers/clamps and all the hardware.
the cool thing about this kit is you retain AC

Good job Gene. Glad you have it running FINALLY!!!

That looks about right. This was an acutal dyno pull of a slightly larger single turbo on my car a couple years ago at 15psi (its changed a lot since then tho)...

did a little bit more tuning tonight, still more room to go, gotta get the timing curve dialed in. no boost controller hooked up yet this is all on the wastegate spring which is 15psi
you can see the AF curve is still very conservative. the big bump in AF is due to the timing, like i said still need to play with it more.

Aren't you supposed to do the pull in 4th gear on a 6-speed and 3rd gear for a 5-speed with that Virtual Dyno software?

You can do it in either gear. The software knows the gear ratios/resistance. And you really don't need the extra resolution 4th provides as long as you datalog with the AEM internally. 250 samples a second is plenty to pick up all the little nuances of the power curve in 3rd.

Although 1.0:1 is the rule of thumb it's been proven that 3rd gear pulls kick out roughly the same numbers on the good dynos (IE a smart/eddy current and not an old style inertial Dynojet).

    And BTW...7k in 4th on a 6 speed = 144 mph-ish. Really not a smart thing on the street.
