I think it was implied that Ray Pampena is the Chuck Norris of 3/S. He can put a car into the 10's with a 13T turbo by eating an Alice and Wondeland pill, jumping into a turbo, and spinning it with his feet.

    Seriously though, nothing.

What was the trap on that?

Basically Dpartinvr4 doesn't like the fact that Ray and Matt are pretty much considered 3S gods. In all fairness most of us 3sers basically act like a "normal" person (or pretty much anyone besides Matt/Ray) simply cannot do what they can.

I don't dislike them, I think what they can do with a car is awesome, I just don't think that that "they are the only ones who can go fast in them" which was the vibe i was getting from another thread.

A car's 1/4 mile trap speed is an excellent indicator of "power under the curve" and therefore, how quick an E.T. it is capable of. Long, long ago, Chrysler published a table of E.T. versus trap MPH. The minimum E.T. for a trap speed of 125 MPH is 10.7 seconds. What this means is, if your car traps 125 MPH, it is making enough power to run an E.T. of 10.7 seconds. If it runs significantly slower, the reason is the suspension can't "get the power to the ground".
Our cars are notoriously slow in 60' times, a dead certain indicator of lack of good launch/traction. These cars are extremely difficult to get the E.T. in the "minimum" range. So anything you do to better launch/improve traction is going to pay huge dividends. And the launch methods that work for a stock 9B car are not going to work effectively for a more powerful/bigger turbo set up.
    Just my 1.5 cents worth.

They have a great combination of being able to build and race. and they are damn good at both. To call them gods, I dont think so. Are they some of the baddest motha F%&*$#@s in the platform Yes! But they have been at this for a while now. They didnt just jump in a 3/s and break records first time out.
Our shop car will be pushing upwards of 900AWHP but for me to be able to get close to one of Matt's passes I will have to weld my front end to his bumper

If you want to do what they have done then its going to take a lot of time and commitment in tuning, engine building and track time. But this is almost a waist of time because if you were to atleast match one of their records, They will turn right back around and set a new one.

I would suggest not to compare yourself to anyone. Build your beast they way you want it. If you truly want to get into the 10's you will get there. If you post up a "challenge like thread" people will jump all over you not because they are gods but because they are very respected in this platform for their commitment in pushing the platform to new levels and inspiring people like your self to push the platform.

With that said I would like to add that the car to keep an eye out for in my opinion is STM's I have a feeling that they will be making some headlines

you earth inhabitants make me chuckle HE HE HE dont make me strike you down!

on a serious note, youll need 500whp to run 10s if its full weight and much less power if its much lighter. my stock DR650 car made 471 whp and would not have gone 10s as it sat... stock weight stock wheels and tires etc. drag radials would have gotten me closer but not into the 10s. it now makes 530 with the newer 650s and WILL go 10s set up the same way with the stock tires and weight.

so if you make that power, or take out the weight...or both.. you can do it!

    the 11.29 was with a 1.64 60ft

I've been drag racing for over 40 years. I've had 13 second street cars, 10 second bracket cars and a low 8 second Super Comp car. All of the "drag only" cars ran consistently at the "minimum for the MPH" because they were fully modified for drag strip traction. The SC car had 1.1-1.2 60 foot times, the 10 second cars about 1.4s. The street cars were before most drag strips had 60 foot clocks, but I'd guess they were in the 1.8 range. And the street cars were also pretty consistently about .6-.7 seconds slower than "minimum".
Ray is absolutely right, the whole point is: either make the HP or lose the weight.
