Depending on how good these look, I might be going with a 280 km/h speedo. I have located one, but if these look as good as I think they will, I might have to stick with the customs.

You could still use the custom face on a genuine 280km/h speedo. Just don't use the converter chip. Assuming the scale on the genuine 280k is the same as the genuine 180mph face.

How much for this speedo? I found one but it was USD$250. It had the km on outside and miles in small print on the inside. I just want a KPH one only. Better to make my own

I know a member who doesn't need his anymore so I'll be taking that off his hands real soon. Awesome thing is his mileage is quite close to mine so it will be perfect.

    So these arrived today

I had it in my head that they were illuminated by there own unit but they are just overlays and they use the origional light from the dash. So just remove the old speedo and lay this one in place. Much easier than wiring in I guess. So I guess if you wanted to p[lay with the colour you could ry different dash lights but the window is red when lit so not sure how much you can do with the colour. There must be a lot of work involved in setting the machines up to make these cus they wanted over $300 for a one of order.

So while I was stuck in a motel with nothing to do for 3 days I pulled the cluster and fitted the dial face. Pics to come tomorrow The only thing I can see being an issues is the needles. As you need to pull them off there is no way to get them back to their correct position. The speedo is fine cus you just leave the clear cover off and push the needle back on when you get a contant 100km/hr using a GPS. I tried this yesterday on my way home after the cyclone but was too busy dodging branches etc lol. Will give it a proper try tomorrow. The fuel guage is easy I just marked it's position before I removed it and put it back in that position. The tacho is where the problems will come from. I just pulled mine off thinking the pin will just sit in the same place when you pull the needle off. But it doesn't so when you put it back on the revs are way out. So what I would suggest is before removing the needles fit the cluster into the car without the clear cover and let the car idle so the needle is still and mark the old face on the outer edge where the needle points and when you put it back in after the new face is fitted let the car idle again and when the idle has settled then push the needle on pointing to where it was before. I had to guess from memory where mine used to sit. Would be good if I could put a logger of some sort to match the revs perfect according to the computer. Something to think about for later I guess. I know last time I put a scanner on it [Snap-On Modus] the needle did not match the scanner. Was out by a few hundred revs.
