Rate the last movie you saw.

Watched Prometheus a few weeks back not knowing anything about it. Didn't realise it was an Alien prequel until the end. It answered some questions but left many more. Coming into it without any expectations I would give it a 6.5/10. Seemed heavily edited. Big name actors had poor roles and under used.

I then watched Alien 3 days ago 8.5/10. Great movie and great suspense but acting let it down a little I think. Then watched Aliens. Not the same suspense level as the first but also a great movie. 9/10. Last night I watched Alien3 and it was crap. Had a real stage play feel about it. Everyone was over-acting, projecting their voices and yelling the whole movie. Poor special effects. A great concept but poorly executed. Gotta watch Alien Resurrection to complete the series. I had seen bits of all of them but never the whole movie/s.

The new 300 in 3d

Meh story line, meh effects (what the hell is up with all the ash in yhe air of most of the new 3D crap?) The effects need to be dunked into some reality imo. Physics were amiss.

5/10 for the flic. 8/10 for the badass chick. Oh, 10/10 4 bewbs!

Have yet to see it, but Lena Heady was great in Dredd, imho. Dunno what other chicks are in that movie.

I think the point was to create more questions. Hard to keep a franchise going if all the questions are answered. Compared to pedantic and formulaic crap like Hunger Games, I thought the script was positively inspired. I think part of the problem with the alien franchise is that half the fans want Cameron style action, and the other half want Event Horizion. I actually enjoyed Prometheus' mix of both.

I'd recommend AVP #1. It's actually pretty damn good. Avoid AVP #2 like the plague, unless you're a die-hard. AVP #2 was a glorified slasher movie, not a suspense movie. Alien always treads a thin line of suspense and avoids the "horror" genre, imho, because it's not about gore. Sure, gory things happen...but that's not the focal point of the movie. And Lance Henrikson really adds something to the movie--for me.

Not sure how you'll like Alien Resurrection. A lot of people seemed to hate it. I didn't think it was TOO bad.

P.S.
Yes, I agree about big names in Prometheus. Idris Elba was completely wasted, and so was Guy Pierce. If you want more "outer-space" suspense, I also recommend Event Horizon, Sunshine (and to a smaller extent) Moon.

are you saying the first Alien vs Predator, the one with the black chick in antarctica was a pretty damn good movie? the movie where the Predator put the letter "T" for tuff on her cheek. then tied an alien tail to a spear so that she could fight the Aliens with him? that movie? you have got to be F*cking kidding me?

Compared to #2? Compared to not having ANY AVP at all? yes. Why "hate" on the "tail spear", etc? it's not like the original Alien had any weaponry for combat. Making due with what you have isn't a foreign concept to the series. Granted, you aren't going to do jack squat with that kind of weapons, but still--I wouldn't hate the movie on that merit.

If you're gonna complain about something being wrong in AVP, it should be that the predators died WAY too quickly. Granted, they're only "juveniles" and this is a test for them--but still. Hard to believe you're at your graduation exercise and your skills suck that hard.

And I'm OLD school. I played AVP #1 on PC. I'd been wanting an AVP movie since Danny Glover saw the inside of a trophy room.

Predator and a pro-moutian climber/survival guide from Harlem go charging head long into a ice cave to battle Aliens in antartica. dude it doesn't get more cheesy than that. I guess they could have added an animated "woosh" when they shooting up the tunnel back to the surface or added a "bamf" or "pow" when they hit the Aliens. but that's about it.

honestly I'm shocked that you liked this and thought some other movies like Transformers were so terrible.

That's about what I expected after watching the trailer. I almost bought it on On-demand last night but watched "life of pi" for free instead.

Transformers had the distinct misfortune of competing with established canon and childhood memories. Same for Xmen. Maybe "pretty damn good" is pushing it. How about "Hey, it's better than sitting through LOTR, Hunger Games or Twilight".
