Only an 8? I loved it but I love alot of his movies.

With Alan on xmen. Talk about plot holes. Anyways here's to the knew arc and new casting I guess.

Sorry, but jennifer lawrence cannot replace rebecca romijn. And the story is so far off the beaten path that I've lost any taste for the series. Marvel would have been better off trashing the whole thing and starting over...like they did with spider-man.

Off the beaten path? They took the basic plot from the Days of future past comics.

I was out with my gaming/comic/sci-fi friends this evening and we all agreed it was good.

I agree its better then either of the Amazing Spiderman movies. On par with X1 and X2

I don't really like X1 or X2 in retrospect. Very cool at the time--since it took FOREVER to bring it to live action, but the story-line pissed me the frick off.

fun fact - marvel didn't reboot spiderman, sony did. if they didn't make another spiderman film following S3 within a certain amount of time, they would have lost the rights to the spiderman character as they would have reverted BACK to marvel. so, we got a spiderman reboot for the sake of just getting another spiderman movie made. for what the reboot was, i enjoyed it.

as far as the recent x-men - you can't go into a movie like this with expectations. any superhero type film, really. otherwise you will ALWAYS end up disappointed with what you get. the acting was what you'd expect from actors of that caliber, bryan singer did a fine job (ignoring any & all plot holes)

I'm sick of reboots. that's what I like about the X-men. they've just gone with the story line. sure they sorta started over with First Class but it's not like they told their orgin story for the 3rd time.

solid 8/10 and I don't particularly like "western themed" movies. shit was hilarious! no way would I have felt comfortable watching this in public though. wouldn't want to get caught laughing and have Jesse and Al in front of my office demanding my racist ass be fired.
The funniest part of that movie was when they were bitching about the hoods the guys wife made.

I agree also, a good 8/10 if not higher.

But see, I would have preferred they went back to the beginning. I mean, I enjoyed the people they cast in them...but let's face it, the canon went out the window.

Going back to the BEGINNING, First-Class should have been about 5 Xmen. FIVE. That's it. And if you don't know who those five are, then you probably were the type of fucktard who thought they were all wonderful movies.

Oh, and let's not forget that they could have touched on a relationship between Mystique and Azazel. But nah, that would actually be interesting AND canon.

well you can't always go directly with the comics. every time that's been done it just didn't translate very well at all.

I think they didn't touch on the Mystique/Azazel thing because they're going with her and ProfX having a thing and that would have taken the movie in a whole other direction.

now I haven't read the comics in years but didn't they reboot the comics and sorta change the way the stories ran and characters developed anyways?
