    Trans problem?

Yesterday I drove the 3k and noticed a sort of rubbing noise when I let off the throttle. It doesn’t do it if I’m on the throttle, even if I’m barely giving the car hardly any gas. As long as I’m holding it steady or accelerating there isn’t any noise at all. If I let off or down shift I get the rubbing/grinding noise. Sort of sounds like the getrag rattle or a bad throw out bearing. The noise goes away when I push in the clutch. Can the half shaft bearing that bolts to the engine make this noise? I would think it would do it all the time if it was that bearing though. First thing I always think now when I get any drive train noise is the OBX LSD or the Spec clutch.

Since I got so much interest in this thread I might as well say it was the OBX, just don't want to leave everyone hanging. :P

Did it damage any other parts in the transmission?

Hey sorry I forgot to answer you guys. I'm putting the stock diff back in and it appears the rest of the trans is fine. It's getting a good cleaning though.

It was grinding every time I let off the gas. When we pulled the trans apart I took apart the diff and found the carnage.

Here's a vid of the noise.

Wow, I've never heard that video before. That was awful haha! I am surprised it didn't grind even with the clutch in though... the dif would still be turning

lol I told you it was bad. Everytime I took the strain off it quit doing it. As long as I wasn't engine brakeing it was fine (no noise). You could see in the diff the center piece was moving back and forth.
