Trololololol Stoops talking shit about the SEC again
Since he likes tossing out some facts and figures, here's some good ones I calculated:
A&M's scoring totals against teams with winning record in the SEC was a palty 19.5 ppg.
Against every SEC team that they faced that had an overall winning record: 26.6ppg.
Against EVERY SEC team they played last year: 39 ppg.
They then proceeded to defecate all over OU in the bowl game (41-13) despite OU being the "best" of the Big 12, would put them not just average but below average in the SEC.
SEC defenses aren't what they once were, but last I checked they still stopped OU in the Championship games; and, even including the worst teams in the SEC, did better as a conference vs A&M than OU did.
Mods: 2g 3k body conversion, 2g Brake upgrade, Rota P45R rims
Projects: Interior sound deadening, 14Bs, forged bottom end, custom radiator and sound mounts
I don't think the defense(SEC) has fallen off that much if at all. I think the offenses have gotten that much better with the recent move to a more hurry up style than before.
edit:
RG3 is broken and terrorizing no one. The only people Weeden was terrorizing were the Browns fans but they don't have to worry about that anymore from the bench. finally Tannehill is doing ok at best however with a league high in sacks that won't be the case much longer.Meanwhile, former Big 12 stars such as Baylor's Robert Griffin III, Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden and Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill currently are playing in the NFL after terrorizing the conference's defenses with their arms in years past.
I sincearly how OU wins out and gets their proverbial asses handed to them by a UGA or LSU in a bowl game. but I gotta give Stoops credit for finding the courage to talk shit after taking the ass kicking he took. amazing.

Defenses have fallen off, but that's true nationwide. The offenses have gotten better and the rules have been favoring them more and more, can't deny it. I would say relative to the rest of college football, the SEC hasn't fallen off as much, but compared to their past. Going back to 97 for Tennessee with Manning, they averaged 32ppg against SEC competition. 98 when they won the NC with Tee Martin, 32ppg. 7ppg wouldn't be a massive swing, considering the changes in offense and rules since then. But I think that the defense has become kind of secondary relative to the offense at this point.
Bob Stoops is irrellevant and he knows it. He'll say anything if he thinks someone will listen to him.
While I appreciate the work, and stoops needs to stfu, you realize k-state was the best team in the b12 last year, right? True round robin, none of the unbalanced sec schedule garb. They won @ OU.
and a single game, while fun to attempt to make far reaching conclusions from, is simply insufficient data to try to rank the entire b12 below the avg 2012 sec team (miss st?). I used to try to make the same transitive conclusions, but I've realized its just not valid, especially WRT bowl season, when teams have so much longer to prep.
After all, a&m needed a 4th quarter comeback to beat ole miss by 3 last season... meanwhile texas put 66 on them and won by 32 points (@ miss). I guess by transitive logic texas, who got destroyed by OU, would have been predicted to beat a&m prior to the cotton bowl?
Lets not forget that a&m team was built in the b12 and won at bama. The gap between the 2 conferences has been quite small the last several years... it is vast this year tho (thanks texas, lol). The sec has what, 4 elite, proven college qb's while the b12 has... 0.
but A&M did start with a new QB and coach last year. hardly the same team that was in the BIG12. I think the Bama loss to A&M had a lot to do with Bama just plain old not respecting them going into the game and not being prepared to handle Manzel and the type of QB play he presented. it wasn't like it was a total blow out or anything.
Oh no, not arguing that the entire Big12 was worse than the entire SEC, merely that Stoops is trying to talk shit when his team performed worst than not just the best of the SEC, but the average of a season of SEC play.
And I don't think that OU was actually the best of the Big12, hence the quotes around the word. Technically they shared the title with KState though.
One thing I will point out, which both of you mentioned, was that the team was "new" last year. The thing is, new QB and new Coach, but A&M in 2011 blew a massive lead in almost every game they lost. Alternative reality, say they don't lose those games, that's a team that would've been in a BCS game, possibly even the NC. The offense basically returned almost the entire offensive line, a couple WRs and I think the RB as well, all of whom were upperclassmen. So the offense was loaded, not as sure about the defense.
Yep, kstate's late season loss to baylor as they found their groove (speaking of great o-lines) allowed stoopsy to back his way into yet another lucky b12 (co)crown.
Thank you for paying attention. Sherman, who has a great eye for OL talent, built that team. It will be interesting to see if Sumlin is still there as his recruits develop into starters on the line... Evans is a BEAST!!! Dude catches errthing.
