This kid had one stellar game thus far and everyone is jumping on his bandwagon. People are already starting to mention Heisman, I mean come on, seriously?

Didn't know about Winston, but the other two are widely known.

I was on his bandwagon before he even played. Just keep an eye on him. There's a reason all the elite colleges recruited him heavily.

I hope you're right and he does go on and becomes a great. I guess I'm just becoming overly skeptical in my old age.

I'm not a MB supporter by any means, but for accuracy sake -

RG3 - offered as DB (he would still be in the NFL and probably have an even longer career ) ... This was a miss, plain and simple. He's a very intelligent guy from a good family. A Mack Brown recruit all the way... Completely inexplicable... But we were already anointing Garrett Gilbert. God dammit. Mack Brown is afraid of real QB competitions ever since Applewhite-Simms.

JFF - I'm glad he wasn't offered at this point. I find the guy entertaining as fuck, but I don't want him representing Texas. The aggies I know are embarrassed and hoping all this pain pays off. MB looks fairly brilliant in hindsight. JFF had a "colorful" history in high school and his antics have not slowed down at all. Ash looked fucking solid last year in what SHOULD have been his redshirt freshman season. Ash should be a RS sophomore now and he's about to go off. Duane Akina, our DB coach, owner of "DBU", wanted Mack to offer JFF as a QB.

JW - First, this guy has played ONE GAME. Against "sPitt". He was FSU all the way or 'Bama per Mack's "sources"... Regardless, we had Connor Brewer, a top QB and the leader of the class wrapped up (Harsin's pick), and we were free-falling in the wake of the 5-7 season just trying to hold our class together through a coaching re-boot (which Brewer helped with tremendously). 2010 and 2011 we were B12 champs in baseball, so that would've helped the cause, but I don't fault MB on this one. I think JW is trolling and/or upset that his 3rd pick didn't waste their time recruiting him.

Did you know Mack Brown rushed for 112 yards on Saturday?

Finally, you're welcome: (skip to 37 seconds since 3sgto won't let me do it for you)

Look at Tyla! He saw some high school film (or more likely, read a blog post of some guy that watched his film) and knew that he was a bad ass!

Everyone wanted Garrett Gilbert, too! He was the Gatorade male athlete of the year in 2009 (Barkley in 2008)...

Anyway, of course he's a good QB, he plays baseball

it's not that he had a good game against Pitt(woopie). it was the manner in which he performed well. dude had guys in his face and hitting him and STILL made accurate deep passes. dude looked like seasoned vet on the road in a very loud place. Aaron Murry would have thrown 2 picks and fumbled once or twice.

You act as though I don't follow recruiting. You underestimate me. Stick around and you may find I'm pretty decent at evaluating talent for a keyboard warrior. I tend to take what the "experts" think with a grain of salt.

RG3 had better weapons at baylor (stud wr's and a much better o-line) than he would have had at texas. Texas is finally well stocked now. Not with elite talent (except RB where we go 5 deep) but experienced average guys that should allow us to start getting more elite recruits. Lazy recruiting after the mnc and very limited on field success the last 2 seasons has allowed all of the elite recruits to slip through to other schools.

Tyla - any of texas' recruits from the 13 or 14 classes stand out to you? Any diamonds in the rough or busts?
