Thread: overheating bad head gasket?

  1. #21
If it's not getting any air flow it sure could. If the flow is hitting the fmic and going around or below the radiator it could certainly happen.

Yeah I waz thinking that too .. well I'm gonna do the coolant test first... if the test fail.. I meant if I don't see any problems on the coolant test... then I'm gonna star worrying on the flow on rad...

Something that will force air through both the fmic and radiator. Here's how I built mine below. In a nutshell, you want to replicate the plastics that came on the car. The tighter the tolerances the better.

The fans should be able to keep temp about 185-190, they should cycle off and on while at idle. Have a picture of your fan setup?

Sounds like you didn't get all the air bled out when you swapped radiators
Taking out your t-stat has nothing to do with the boiling point of the water. The only thing affecting the boiling point is the radiator cap/pressure, and water/coolant ratio. Taking out the t-stat will make it run cooler. Mine stuck open and the car would never get to operating temperature.

Lol I came in here to help but after reading that your thermostat will cause your car to overheat... I apparently don't know anything

The gas test is a good idea jfast, but not all of us have personal friends who own high performance shops and a lot of basic shops don't have one of those testers. If you can find one, OP, then that will immediately tell you if your headgasket is good or bad

I'm pretty sure he meant combustion gas tester...like the link I posted above. I want to say you can also rent the tester from a local parts store as well. The picture you linked looks like gauges and has nothing to do with fans.
