Would it not be possible to TIG fusion weld the nut to the end of the shaft to prevent movement after the nut has been torqued?
If You only fuse the nut to the shaft without any filler wire it should not cause any imbalance.

if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem
I still think that Fusion welding the nut & having to replace the shaft as & when needed is a lot cheaper than buying a new shaft, compressor wheel & compressor housing when the shaft fails

welding or not the shaft would still break. You guys seem hung up on the nut coming loose, but no one knows that is what happened. I'm more inclined to believe the shaft just broke.
You don't see any of the other turbos doing this and none of their nuts are welded.
I second the shaft snapping. It has a nice sound to it.
