Just curious: does your shifter arm have a notched section for that E-clip to fit into? I did mine up all nice similar to how you did yours, but it kinda irked me that I couldn't get a clip installed due to no provisions for one (I have no notch for one like I'd suspect there should be).

Great work.
Love it. Great to see someone going to such lengths to make sure every detail is perfect!! Should be a Brand new car when done!
The clip that holds the shifter boot in place? Yea there is a groove cut in the shift lever about half way up. That is crazy if yours doesn't have one. This is a 2nd gen shifter, is yours a 1st gen by any chance?
<--- The clip right before the threaded portion of the shift lever right?
Yes!! That is what I thought, too. Mine definitely doesn't have any groove machined into it for the E-clip...It's been somewhat ghetto-rigged with a cable tie ever since I've owned it & that's all I put back on it when I redid the assembly.
As far as I know, it should be the factory 1st gen. one the car came with, but some P/O did do a bunch of stuff to the car (mostly wrong, unfortunately).
This is mine:

Thanks, when I started this project, vr-4ever was the only member I saw completely restore the whole car. Then all of the sudden, there are like 5 of these builds going on, and the guy from ips and the guy in australia are making me realize that my car will not come out as nice as I want it. Both of their cars are coming out amazing and will without a doubt, be better than new, both of them are examples of exactly what I want to do. Every time they post an update, they crush my dreams a little bit more. However, they have the budget for professional painting, polishing, powder coating, ect, not to mention the thousands in aftermarket and brand new parts. I am trying to figure out how to do all that stuff myself because my budget is peanuts compared to theirs.
