nothing wrong with 9mm! caliber is not nearly as important as your ability to get rounds downrange accurately. Go to the range and sign up for a defense course! simply dumping 200 rounds into a plywood circle does about as much for familiarity, as passing your driving test at 16 does for good defensive driving
if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem

Yess, deff going to take some classes. Actually one of the main reasons for doing the CCW class is to learn more about it and the laws that protain to guns and such.

my father had a sigma 40. hag quite a few stove pipes in the first 200 rounds through it of winchester white box. get some rounds and put 200 through it.. make sure the gun likes them. seeing 3-4 stove pipes in 200rounds did not make me trust me life with the weapon. another reason im sticking with a 1911 and some fat +p ball. feeds all day. no issues.. maybee he just got a bad one. or bad ammo.

Never been a huge fan of colt because of their price. My dad has a colt heavy barrel target that came with nothing. My Dpms is a stainless heavy barrel, 4 rail hand guard, magpul back up sights, magpul stock and magpul dropped trigger guard. All for less than half he paid for the colt. Plus the colt doesn't shoot any better... same goes for my Springfield 1911. Much cheaper than the colt.

That DPMS is a good range gun but the Colt is a bet your life on it serious SHTF gun. It cost more $ to do individual MPI and HPT on the bolt, use higher quality barrel steel, higher quality fire control group pins, stake gas keys etc... correctly.
