Nice to see Texas stick with the simplified "straight up" d-line scheme we rolled out in the 2nd half against Kansas. From stunting right at 40% of the time to... I never saw any stunting against Tech. When our d-line plays straight up, it puts less responsibility on our linebackers. When we stunt, we get huge gaps and tons of TFL's (the only defensive category we're top 10 in) but tons of HUGE plays against us.

So it was great to see a drastically simplified defensive scheme pay off against Tech. Highly criticized Carrington Byndom, a shut down corner last year as a sophomore, had the game of his season with tons of critical PBU's including breaking up a 2 point conversion and sealing the win with a blocked FG.

Texas suddenly looks poised to compete for 10 wins again.

I've been saying since week 1, the way Johnny "football" plays is going to get him killed. I thought the SEC was tougher than this? I could see aggy beating 'Bama because frankly they never should have survived LSU... But I could also see Johnny getting dismembered in the 1st half.
