Well the way I see it is if you don't like it you can try somewhere else.
I just wouldn't buy a place for awhile so I would make it easy to relocate,

    Have fun!

I hated driving in SF, one of the two most horrible cities to drive in besides Washington DC

I've been a San Jose resident since 1983. IMO this is one of the best possible areas to live in. Proximity to SF, Monterey, Napa, Tahoe and many more can't be beat. If anything it's a little too cold but that's easily fixed.

Driving in SF can be challenging since left turns are pretty much illegal everywhere.

Justin - let me know if you do come this way.

    Hilariously ironic, that.

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

I won't be driving. It will be two wheels only (bike and motorcycle). The Stealth will go into storage. There are some places outside the city proper that do classic car storage, where you can keep your car indoors and have access to it during business hours.

    BIG lifestyle change. Whew.

Just my opinion, but after living in Cali for almost 14 years, you probably won't like SF. Too bad you didn't consider San Diego, it's by far the bast place to live in California. It has better weather than LA, even though they're only 130 miles apart. It doesn't have the traffic problems that LA and SF have and you'd never have to worry about a good sports team distracting you from doing outdoor, fun stuff.
When I lost my job in San Diego, I had opportunities to stay in California, but without the benefits of living in San Diego, California had no appeal to me anymore.

Nice...motorcycle is about the only way to get around down there without having to worry about traffic!

But...trying to ride in winter season is chilly, figure 30-50 degrees.

Recalling a certain bike pic I didn't see that being a problem.

Ha, hey, getting laid wasn't the problem. It was the whole "relationship" thing.
