Where was it injured? Was it bleeding? Looks okay in the photo.

    Either way, nice work.

How the hell does someone hit an animal that big? Not paying attention that's how.

No, by being an intelligent driver and not swerving. I love animals but will not swerve to avoid them.

It was bleeding from the mouth some. Where we found it, it had already evacuated it's bowels. It was not moving it's hind quarters at all and the way it was flailing around, I'm quite certain it had a broken back. Whoever hit him probably caught him in the hind-end as it was running across the road and it landed right at the side of the road, where we found it. As we drove towards the vet's office, it continually panted heavily and about halfway started a light, wet cough. While the vet's office didn't tell us what his injuries were, they said they were extensive and that he was in bad shape so they put him down.

And while it's possible to avoid hitting most animals in the road, cats are notorious for darting out in front of traffic and are harder to miss. Perhaps the person who hit him could have hit him straight on, but did swear to miss him, catching him in the hind end instead. We weren't there so we have no idea. It's all speculation.

Yup, for reelz. He has a couple of different pictures on his phone of the bobcat in the back seat, though most look the same, cos he wasn't moving much and Chris didn't want to draw his attention in case the bobcat had a lucid moment and tried to lunge or run. He was such a beautiful little fella. Our cat, Nibbler, looks like a mini-cat now, in comparison.

Seems kind of dumb to me to indanger yourself/wife by picking up a stray injured animal that could have had who knows what disease....but hey, I guess it all worked out.
