Can an 98 ECU part number md347252 be modified or flashed?
Can an 98 ECU part number md347252 be modified or flashed?
In short...yes. Any 98-99 ECU can be. It just so happens that yours takes the most work to make it happen.
Can anyone give me ideas on what needs changed out to make it into a flash ecu?
That's a SOHC ecu, not sure about them. Let the ecu masters chime in

The SOHC ECUs haven't been modified yet to clone a VR-4 ECU. It requires extensive work and I'm sure that will be a last option because there are plenty of other ECUs that can be modified. You'd be better off looking for a SL or VR-4 ECU.

Is the 99 VR4 ecu the most inexpensive option when you add in the patch harnesses and additional work?
I read somewhere an oem one is about $800. How much more or less do you have to throw at the coversion from a 99 vs a 98 ecu?
I got the ECU for pretty cheap so I'm hoping I can make it work. I've had a few offers for it but I'm considering keeping it.
