Do you also need an Evo or GM MAS, and a 3 bar map sensor? What did your setup require? How much for everything involved in the tuning strategy. MAS, Map Sensor, Patch Harness, and ECU?

You don't really need an evo mas, it just accurately counts a lot more air than our maf. You could run the stock maf. You don't need the map sensor at all unless you want to control boost with the stock ecu.

    My setup is:

    1) Evo maf part # 399 ($95), a 482 will work and is about half the price and you could use the stocker if you want to get a feel for things first.
    2) blackstealth conversion harness. It was $250, but he lowered the price to $200, I guess due to competition or he just wanted to get rid of some inventory. If you have a 98 or 99 chassis or engine wiring harness then you don't need this. There are other suppliers as well.
3)99 sl ecu, was $150, but the pricing varies a lot. If you need some of the vr4 specific features like built in boost control this is not the ecu for you. You can get a real 99 vr4 one or one of the converted ecus.
    4)tactrix open port 2, $169

Basically you just need a flashable ecu and a way to connect it to your car and then the tactrix cable to make changes.

This ecu will have a very hard time starting the car being that it is setup for a distributor ignition and not coil packs.

I have the harness for a 98 but it's the SOHC. I may be able to hack off the ends and make a conversion cable to fit a 92 VR4 harness.

The 98 SOHC is the same PCB as the 98 SL, and 98 VR4 but it will need many more components added/replaced to make it work. At this time, nobody has successfully converted one over yet.

In other news, today I just got a 1999 3000GT VR4 Euro flash ECU working on my 93 RT/TT. What makes it interesting is that it uses the old style ECU connectors, so it is quite possible to move just a few wires around on the factory harness without the need of a conversion harness!

That is big news! That makes the conversion possibly really economical since the conversion harness would have the most expensive part for me!

I volunteer to be a tester!

I was curious about this. Adam has been asking me to start disassembling the euro ROM to take advantage of all the tables I've discovered and port my ROM mods over.

So the Euro cars stayed with the first gen 3 plug? Wonder why?
