No, that would be a good deal. Fortunately this one place i use has no minimum charge if using my card. So i usually end up only 2.50-3.50 at a time.

Recent photo. Believe it or not, this is the first time it has ever looked like this. It has been on 4 jack stands before but only to change the drivetrain oils. This was to replace the cat and install rear adjustable camber arms. Bought a cat from Maximal. Turns out the JDm cat is about 100mm shorter than the USDM ones. Also had wheels off to get new rubber fitted. Now it's back on the road.

Thanks. I'm really enjoying the car. A huge upgrade from my old DD, the '06 Sonata.
It is turbo and there is an AWD option, but they only have the auto for AWD. I have the 6 speed FWD. But for a daily wrong wheel drive isn't bad. :)
270bhp, though I have been eyeballing the Trifecta ECU tune that bumps that up to 320-330bhp.
Here is a bit better pic of the car;

And another next to the VR-4.

"only" auto for AWD. you make it sound like that's a bad thing. SOMEONE had to rectify the imbalance in the universe caused by only offering the vr4 as MTX.
Pic from earlier this winter when I pulled them out to start them for a little while.

Not mine, but I'm loving this stance. I need to get mine finished.

These are top speed pro1 or something like that. I bought them on ebay about 5 years ago  I just never got around to installing them. They do a bit of suspension stuff for the nissan crowd.

99 front. SO overrated.
Regardless of how you rate it, it still looks good.
 I'd agree with you that on the forum/internet they are extremely over-played.
A guy I work with loves arguing opinions. To each their own.

Interesting but inaccurate comparisons imo. Though the MTX is older than the ATX the functionality between the two is more on par with a pump action shotgun versus a semi-auto shotgun. However the semi-auto shotgun doesn't modulate reload time based on a number of factory programmed parameters that drastically changes the firing rate of the weapon.
Most ATX computers are crap and as a result the performance of the transimissions they control ends up being crap. Obviously there are exceptions but they are still few enough in number that they remain exceptions rather than become the rule.
and in this day and age of flashable ECU's, you really think that TCU's are as you describe them?
Do we really need to go back to C&D from 2004 to see that an slk55amg was a 1/10th faster in the 1/4 than a stock corvette 6-speed...and with less hp?
regardless though, PWR mode on a 3/s shifts VERY quickly, and a TL valve body kit will reduce that even further.
Haha Touche'
In all honesty, the days of a standard being faster than an auto are long gone. From a pure performance standpoint modern sport autos are better. Heck Ferrari hasn't had a three pedal since the 360.
But, for me, I feel more connected and in control with a standard. It is better because it is more fun for me to drive. :)

You mean the Car and Driver review where they put a mark against the car for its inability to smoothly downshift? And are you suggesting all TCU's are now on par with the TCU used on a 70K luxury performance roadster?
When you view the entirety of ATX's on the market, not just the rare performance versions, you are left with the same clunky units you have always had. And an ATX is supposed to not only execute the act of changing the gear for you but also decide when the gear change should occur. Your standard TCU still sucks at making these decisions and as a result the overall package is still flawed.
And the paddle shift trans in the 360 is a perfect example of how most atx's suck. Calling that unit "slow" is being kind.
But still, I was talking about MODERN PERFORMANCE atx's. The paddle shift atx system in the 360 is 9 years and 2 generations old now. It is far from what is now available in the 458.
It does suck that the manual is harder and harder to find. But as long as all the cars I own are manuals I will be happy. :)
The funny thing is, the lack of a real manual is what will keep me out of ever owning a current GTR or Ferrari. Granted I can't afford a Ferrari but I could a GTR if it was a goal.

Electrohydraulic manual transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
lest we forget that the 360 actually had a manual that was souped up to behave like an ATX. Had Ferrari used a DCG, the results would have been different.
As far as the SLK55 AMG goes, if their biggest complaint about the transmission is coming to a stop, I think I can live with that. Any valve-body mods for snappier shifts will tend to render the same effects.
I'm not saying that the technology is perfect (although PWR mode on a 3/s shifts at redline & kicks-down 2 gears easily if you stomp on it). What I am glad of is that 7 & 8 speed ATX's are now seeing the light of day, which means increased fuel economy and smoother shifts. And no, I'm not saying that all cars share the technology of a 70k car from 2005. What I do believe is that technology has been trickling down for those interim years (even base model MB's are available with these newer ATX's), and Toyota, Ford and GM have all migrated to at least 6-speed ATX's on virtually their entire lineup.
I grant you that TCU's still have room for improvement, and that's fine. I still believe that rowing through gears is an obsolete idea, and paddle-shifters should be a minimum standard (sequential or DCG), even if we're going to retain the left pedal.
I think this point has made many would be Evo X owners go with the GSR over the MR.
The increase in ATX gear count is a result of increasing fuel efficiency standards, so in a sense you are thanking the tree hugging hippies in our government for advancements in automotive technology, doesn't that sound bass ackwards. And though more gears do help to get you to the right gear faster, the inherent laziness of an ATX still exists. At cruising speed the trans will shift up to a gear that functions as overdrive for that particular speed for fuel ecoomy reasons, but this renders basic throttle response useless. When in this cruising situation and you have to accelerate you have three choices:
1) Feed slight throttle and deal with the poor response as the car struggles to accelerate while in at least one gear too high.
2) Feed in moderate throttle and wait for the vehicle to first try option #1 and after several seconds of that failing it will drop a gear and things will be as they should.
3) Feed in significant throttle so the TCU responds with an immediate gear change but now you are at least 1 gear too low and your RPM's are much higher than necessary. This condition creates an unneccessary level of throttle response.
The overall feeling you are left with is that you either have too abrupt of throttle response or no throttle respone at all. With an MTX you just natrually drop a gear and go. Until the standard ATX can resolve this issue it will be as nice as electric power steering for true driving.
The fact that technology does trickle down and a handful of affordable cars have good paddle setups is very promising. But there is still more progress to be made. The big question is will the advancements arrive before marketing people convince the automakers to drop the MTX.
Funny you say that. A good friend of mine bought a GSR over a MR for that very reason. As have a number of other owners who I meet at HPDE events.

You see many more GSRs at track events than MRs.

It is what it is; nostalgia supplants logic or rationale 6 ways to Sunday. Nobody cares that a 7 speed ATX can kick down up to 4 gears at once. Meh. I've never encountered "too much downshift"--even when slamming the pedal to the firewall. Even 1 second in a lower gear before it hits redline is sufficient justification for using that gear, imho--especially when shifts take less than 1/10th of a second.
