Not a fan of R/R porsches. F/R or R/A--fan.freaking.tastic. r/r....not so much, imho. i don't consider snap oversteer to be a prized quality in handling.

Hard to say for replacement. Nothing will ever be able to replace the emotional attachment and the people I've met in the 10 years of ownership.

I've owned many different 'supplements' to the 3/S, my favorite maybe being my current 6spd twin turbo sedan. Having the wife's Evo X in the garage to play with has spoiled me. It's really an amazing point-to-point car and nothing else looks like it. The BMWs have spoiled me too... great build quality, great chassis designs, etc.
All of these things combined have really created an itch for a rear engined car from Stuttgart. Turbo variants would make the most sense as a direct VR-4 replacement but I feel like I'll want to own at least one n/a one at some point. I've owned a lot of turbo cars and while I'll always prefer them, there's a lot to be said for a high strung n/a screamer.
I can't see replacing my Stealth with anything, but if I had to, I've been reading up on the Alfa Romeo 4C that'll be coming here soon. $54,000 for a carbon fiber, track tuned, and actual useable space to carry things sounds interesting.

there's a shitton of nice alfas that never made it to the states. coupes, sedans, roadsters, hatchbacks, etc.^
if we were making a list of cars that won't come to the states...the question would be twice as difficult.

hard to tell from pics. some of these are unbelievably sexy in person.
Except, the 4C is coming here. Actually should be on sale now in the US.
It's not here yet, I believe q2 '14 it will be. That's the plan anyway, it was supposed to be here by the end of this year but had complications.
It is VERY different than the toyobaru. It is mid engine turbo 4 rwd. It will be comparable to a lotus Elise.

ah, missed the mid-engine part.
it reminds me a LOT of the alfa MTO...especially the tails. too bad we only get the 4c, not the 8c.
on that note...more alfas that never have seen the states:

i wouldn't mind a 159 myself...and i don't normally like 4-door sedans.
I've driven the 159 wagon and the gulietta cloveleaf edition. I lo e the nose on the 159 and the gulietta is a peppy little bugger. They both feel cheap to me. Cool interiors though with the brushed aluminum look rather that faux carbon fiber.
Btw, our 4c is likely to be a couple hundred pounds heavier than it is overseas due to crash ratings.

Wasn't the 8c just a couple year production year car with less than a hundred sent to USA?
So you could get one but good luck...
They probably have resale value retainment like a Ford GT....
From the phone.
