Why so thin on the oil? I wasn't aware of the restrictions in the heads.
Oil is just what I grabbed at the time. there will be little differnce between 10-30 and 5-30 psi. Definitly not what I am seeing. SPoke with my Mitsu tech/mechanic buddy, and he thinks possibly the valve is stuck. He seems to think that if the restrictors were missing it would cause the lifters to scream...
Bearing clearances have a lot to do with oil pressure as well. I don't recall what yours were, but I know my engine was built fairly loose... which is fine to me. I've never put a real gauge on mine before, but I can almost assure I have lower oil pressure than some. Although my light has never come on like that... that is slightly scary.
you replaced the squirters in the block?
Just what did he mean by the lifters screaming?
Not replaced the squiters. He thought that if the restrictors were missing it would limit the pressure to the lifters thus making them noisy.
That's backwards. The restrictions limit the oil to the lifters. Not having them would increase the flow to the heads, not limit it. Did you disassemble the pump and inspect it this time around?
Will disassemble when out. New pump in the mail. The pressure at cold start fluctuates now between 3o-38 psi bouncing. So something is up with the pump or valve.
Damn Bill..Hope you get it sorted out man, sorry to hear this.
bouncing can be rod bearings too, but I hope not
