View Full Version : Front Engine Mount

Just putting my engine back in after months on the bench. Noticed that the diameter of the flange bolt (9mm) that I took out of the front mounting is a whole lot smaller than the diameter of the sleeve (16mm) in the rubber mounting itself. I was just about to by a new mounting because I thought I'd lost an insert or something. Isn't this bolt supposed to be tight fit in the sleeve? The engine roll bracket holes are right but that steel sleeve in the engine mount is 7mm larger than the bolt.

The mount is in otherwise excellent condition and all the illustrations I look at don't indicate I'm missing anything but just doesn't seem right that the gap between the bolt and sleeve should be that large?

Advice anyone, please? THX.

Once its tightened down, it won't go anywhere. People have brought up this "issue" with Maximal's solid mounts and I will guarantee you it is a non issue.

It is built in tolerance for the manufacturing process.

Once the bolt is tightened, it compresses the mount slightly and it will not go anywhere.

Thx very much. I'm not sure why I never got a notification when you both posted these but really appreciate it!
